Cancellation odds?

Hey, all, I have an ADR question. I have a solo trip to the World coming up from 2/28-3/14, and I have ADRs in place, but I have a question about cancellations. I wanted to have lunch at Coral Reef and dinner at Le Cellier the day I will be in Epcot, but everything was booked for those time frames. I was able to reverse it and get a lunch ADR at Le Cellier and an 8:10 ADR at Coral Reef, but I'm concerned with dinner and getting back to the World Showcase in time for Illuminations.

What do you think the odds are of snagging a cancellation if I call back a few days before or even the day of? Anyone had any luck with cancellations? Just curious - I at least have a backup plan in place, but it would be ideal if I were able to switch those........

Le Cellier is a smaller venue than most, so although there are cancellations, they are more of a rarity than at other restaurants. I would suggest calling fairly regularly between now and then and then daily for the week before. If a space comes open, your only chance to get it is calling more often than others that are also trying to do the same [and an element of luck in being the first to call after something does open up].

Le Cellier is the one restaurant that I've never seen that work... Even in February! :shrug:

Granted, I'm not there that often, but when I do see walk-ups, the stock answer is "Sorry, we're booked solid for the next month or two.".

Last May when we went to a later dinner at CRT the place wasn't packed at all. Later in the trip we were wandering the Crescent Lake resorts and happened across Cape May. We were starving! Even tho it was 5 minutes before closing we put on puppy-dog eyes and begged them to let us eat their scraps. :ROFLOL:We promised not to be a pain in the tookus or eat too slow, too. THe greeter person went back and asked the waitresses if any of them would mind taking care of us. We got in and the place was virtually empty. It was like having the whole joint to ourselves. We thanked our waitress lots and left a generous tip for her willingness to accomodate us. I would say with LeCellier if I was solo or just a couple I'd try walking up especially towards the end of the night. The place is generally clearing out and if you can strike up a little conversation with the greeter they may be willing to help ya out. Otherwise, keep on calling. We had LeCellier, CRT, and other fantastic meals at great times planned for our December trip that we had to cancel. Some lucky soul(s) got some great ressies. Cancellations happen. Don't give up.

I say TRY! I had a terrible time getting reservations for BOMA on Christmas eve, but once we got there and the entire time we were eating, the place was seriously EMPTY! Anyone could have done a walk up with absolutely no wait.

Thanks for all the responses! I've had a little luck so far - still no luck in switching lunch for dinner, however, I was able to get earlier ressies for lunch and dinner, so now I don't have the issue of making it back to World Showcase for Illuminations.

Just keep trying until the moment you want to eat. On Christmas Eve in 2006 we arrived at around 6 and wanted to get dinner. We knew the odds of getting anything were slim to none, but my mom told me to try and see if there was anything at Whispering Canyon. Believe it or not I had a table in 30 minutes after I called. You never know what can happen.
