Canadian Lumberjack Show to open at Epcot's Canada Pavilion in early October

I am surprised this show passed through the legal department. They moved the chip guards in front the chain saws, but throughout the show there appeared to be chips heading out into the crowd areas. Then throwing the axes? Wait until someone gets a bad edge and the axe flips towards the crowd.

Since I could not tell in the video, how close to the stage can guests get during the show?

Okay, so here is a simple solution for this.

I know those in WDE reads this, (Talent booking, not so sure, so pass this along please..)

You already have an existing contract (or one that could be dusted off) with band called Stormbringer, (for those who may not recall) is Tampa based cover band that performed on the West End Stage, at Pleasure Island.

In particular, one of the bands they covered (and swear to god, do a INCREDIBLE JOB of) was "Rush" (a Canadian rock band, according to Wikipedia.) Making this a perfect tie in with the Canada Pavilion (hey, there is a Beatles tribute band in the UK, so why not this?)

Given that not only can they cover a Canadian based band, but may other bands (some of which even play at the Food and Wine Festival) this makes them ideally suited to play on the stage. I'm rather sure you still have some techs who used to work with them back in the Pleasure Island days, who would love to work that stage and support those guys, so it's a feel good show all the way around.

You could even get them booked pretty quick, Tampa's just an hour away.

Ok apologists... Explain this one. Please tell me with a straight face that THIS is progress. Please tell me THIS is somehow improving the park for the guests.

EPCOT was far from the park that needed the most love but they sure are trying very hard to make it everyone's least favorite.
So angry...

Life is too short for anger, but thanks for your really constructive comment..

This change in entertainment is laughable and just shows that the people in charge of entertainment are completely out of touch with what people want. I remember maybe 15 - 20 years ago ESPN would play lumberjack competitions all the time and they were pretty entertaining, in an edited format.... What next? Is the american pavilion going to feature professionals playing texas hold em because that was popular years ago? Better yet Joey Chestnut showing off his hot dog eating skills...

Do you honestly think this make EPCOT better than it was before?

Is EPCOT really the unloved step child? Why else would Disney take away the good things it had going for it and replace them with... well, I really don't know what to call this. I feel like TDO ripped away Cinderella's beads and flung mud at her instead.

And where does the savings from cuts across the American theme parks go? Can't say for sure, but this looks suspicious: http://money.cnn.com/2014/10/06/media/disney-paris-bailout/index.html

Watched the video - the show is weak and an embarrassment. The MC is in tennis shoes. Tennis shoes!?!

Very authentic, eh?

I was going to mention the tennis shoes, but all of the other comments were so damning, it didn't seem necessary. And...they were White! Really, really bad show!

I'm not even advocating bringing back Off Kilter, although it's a good idea, but this show is a new low for Disney entertainment - and that's putting it gently.

My opinion doesn't really matter, but I'm enjoying the frothiness of you thinking yours does.

I have not followed this story but I fail to see any connection here. For some reason, lumberjack at disney world just does not settle with me. I would rather no entertainment than this.

Oh wow, I wanted to like this but this is laughably horrible. They could have made this more exciting, but their version is about as dumbed down as you can get for a lumberjack show. The poor trees :(
