Canada/Soarin Question

I was thinking about the construction of the water ride in Canada to block the view of Soarin, and I am wondering how much room do they have between Canada and Soarin to build.

Anyone have any aerial pics with the new Soarin building in it, so we can guesstimate how much room is between the two?

Honestly, there's quite a bit of room, but there's a service area back there too...

The Steakhouse goes back a little as well if I'm not mistaken.

Sure, there's always a way. Heck, put a tunnel through the Mountain. That would work. :)

there is alot of room in this area, and yes there is a service area. Anything is possible, so don't be suprised if they DO put a mountain up. It's entirely possible to build a mountain in the space that is in that area, the only question is where would they put the resivour for the ride which is extremely nessasery. there is probally room behind canada for this, but i can't be entirely sure. Check out the Soarn' page of this site for some ariel pictures.

Who cares what they have planned - it's not like they are going to tell us, and they certainly aren't going to care if we want to come up with an idea of what they could do there. So if someone wants to come with an idea for a water ride, let them.

Here is the aerial of the Canada pavilion. It's not that huge, but there is some room there. Of course you have to remember that Soaring isn't actually up against Canada.

Plus, I guess they have the old Millenium Village space to use for the ride, or just backstage infrastructure (or maybe even the entrance area - if the rumours of a new CircleVision film are true they won`t turn the theatre into a queue.)

UCF Disneyfan, do you work splash attractions or merchandise? Just curious because I used to be a cp in splash merchandise in the photo shop.

But are they going to take down the millenium village building? Makes me wonder if in fact they are actually looking for something to go in there, perhaps?

Tigger248: Really? How long ago? I had a friend who worked there when they first opened.

Well making the building look like the skywould probably work very well. especially since you can't see it really in Canada/Future World but from across the lagoon.

I imagine at this point they will just mask the structure with either a backstage color paint (backstage blue/green) or create a facade to blend in with the Canada backdrop.

Really, the Canada/Soarin' thing doesn't really matter...honestly...if they build the Canada Raft attraction, that won't be built in time for the opening of Soarin'...so it really doesn't solve the problem...it will in the future...but for years, it will sit with the forced perspective out of whack...something needs to be done NOW...and not wait for the rumored raft ride.

(Just backing up with Joey said).

ok then.

I worked at splash photo and briar patch for the fall advantage program in 2002. How long did your friend work there cloudboy? If they were there in 2002 what was their name?

Place World Showcase in a giant Climate Controlled Dome would solve the problem.

It would be like in that one show staring Jim Carey where his whole life is a TV show.
