Can you take backpack on rides?

It seems like we are going to need a backpack to carry water, snacks, etc... but how does that work out going on rides? It will just be the two of us and so there will not be a "non-riding" group member to leave it with.

I think that Disney is perfect for someone with a trip planning OCD which I clearly have a good case of ! :D  :D  :D

I'm pretty shure you can take the backback on just about anything. The only questionable ride coming to mind would be Rock 'n' Roller Coaster. But if you keep it between your legs, I'm sure it would be fine. All the other rides move slowly or have a pouch to put things you bring on the ride.

If not, there's always lockers.

Hope that helped

Backpacks are not a problem really. I keep one with me all the time. For coasters, easiest thing to do is put it between your feet and put your foot through one of the arm straps. Make sure it is closed securely. Only places this may be a problem would be water rides (read as Splash Mountain and Kali). Easiest solution there is to ask a merchandise cast member for 2-3 big bags. Put the backpack in one of them with wallets/cell phone/etc. Wpar that bag as tightly as you can around itself them put it in the second bag. Wpar that one tight and you should be 95% safe on ANY water ride (this works for when it starts pouring too). Have a great trip. TTFN.

Not old, just vintage.
I usually carry a backpack around too. Ive never had a problem with going on any ride with it. For RnRC I just put my legs through the straps and kinda of squish the bag with my legs against the seat. The same forces of gravity that keep you in the seat will also keep your bag in the seat. The same thing works for EE and Space.

Definetly take the two plastic bag approach to protecting your bag on water rides. Other than lockers there is no place to store your bag while you are on a ride especially since most rides load and unload in different places. (i.e.- u cant put ur bag off to the side and retrieve it when the ride is over)

Have fun!!!!

never a problem

i carry a backpack to every park, Kali river rapids has a thing with a lid in the middle, works okay. like everbody else said with RnRc & ToT etc., just keep it near your feet or wrapped around a leg. i always keep my camera, video camera, ponchos, the mug from the hotel, aspirins, tons of junk & it was never a problem on any ride, back gets a little more sweaty, thats all.

I've never had a problem with carrying my backpack on any ride and I've been on every ride, I think. As for the water rides (and rainy days), I put all of my important stuff that can't get wet in a ziplock bag (one of the big ones with the slidey thing at the top so you know it's sealed).

It's cool to be OCD about planning for Disney. It would be dangerous not to be:lol:

Hi, I'v use back pack also on all ride work great. I got one of those backpack pureses in the big size. So it not overly big but I could still fit everything we needed plus the viedo camara. They also work great as diaper bags.

I always take a backpack. I'm lost without it. Perfect for keeping your snacks, water, camera, coats/ponchos, things your child decides he can't live without, etc!

I do the ziploc back thing for things I don't want to get wet too. Sometimes the bag gets wet, but it isn't a big deal. I do the same thing everyone has mentioned with putting my leg through the straps on the fast rides. Works just fine! (I've never done ToT or RnRC, so can't judge those)

I can tell you as a mom, it is very important to carry many snacks, water, juice, etc. It prevents hot tired kids from having a complete meltdown in line somewhere.

Backpack on Soarin

We always take a backpack around with us. Remember security will want to check it on entry. The funny thing is that on Soarin last summer we couldn't keep the backpack with us for the ride. You had to place it in the middle of the floor in between the large sections of the chairs. My husband had to quickly retrieve is cell phone before the ride started and some little kids stepped into the four or five bags that were there when they got off the ride and were walking towards the exit. It wasn't a problem, just something Disney didn't seem to think about when designing the ride.

Most rides have a great compartment area for you to stash your backpack. I usually carry around a messenger-style bag with sunscreen, a bottle of water, my camera, a sweatshirt, batteries, wallet etc. etc. and it has fit into all of those compartments, including the one on Soarin'.

I've never tried it with a "big" conventional backpack, but I would probably stay away from bringing anything too big/heavy. Setting aside questions of fitting it into the rides' compartments, do you really want to be carrying around something huuuge while you're walking around in the Florida sun?? *shudder* :dazzle:

My backpack has been on every Disney Mountain in WDW except Everest, and I'm going to correct that situation soon enough. :D

I would suggest holding the backpack in your arms, or securing it between your legs and the seat on ToT. I sat it on the floor once, with my foot between the straps, and while it didn't get lost, it did rise and fall with the motion of the elevator. Several WHUMPS later, the apple I brought for a snack was rather bruised. I'm just glad my camera was OK.

Last time I was at Disney, we had a little sack thing that I got at the disney store, and I took it on everything including Tower of terror and I even took it on Rockin Roller Coaster. The only bad thing about the backpack is that you have to have it checked when you go threw security. We brought it somedays and others we just left it back at the room. The bag check can slow you down if you are in a hurry, but it does come in handy for water and stuff.

Wear sunscreen so you don't get weird tanlines like I did! :)

I convinced my what will be wife (I guess I should just call her my wife now) to buy a small backpack for our honeymoon next week. I just didn’t want to have to carry everything in my shorts pockets. I hope she is fine with carrying it all day since she bought a pink one and it would look really bad on me. It would clash with my shoes.
