Can you stay on the TTA if nobody is waiting when your ride ends?

That's actually standard procedure. Guests with disabilities (wheel chairs, crutches, etc) are loaded into the vehicle at unload since it's less crowded and there's more room for the chair. Also, if crowds are really light the CMs have been known to let people just keep on riding if they want to.
Ok I stand corrected!

Is there anything to see back there if you load from the exit? Any backstage areas?

No. The unload is listerally just around the corner out of your line of sight from the load area. You pass through that short curve of dark walls or curtains.

I love the TTA

Hooray for the TTA/PeopleMover! There really is something magical about it. I wonder if they've ever made a TTA pin? Or a t-shirt? I'd buy one!

My favorite time to re-ride the TTA without having to get off is right after Space Mountain goes down and the lights in the building come on. If you notice the lights are on during your first TTA circuit, there is also a decent chance they will still be on 10 minutes later when you pass through again, giving you two chances to get a good look at the track layout from the TTA.

Night rides on the TTA are of course also very magical with all the colorful lights of Tomorrowland and nice cool breeze.

LOL

This reminds me of the time when we were about to ride the Haunted Mansion. We passed through the stretch rooms and into the queue area. As we were about to step on the conveyor belt to get into our Doom Buggies, we saw 2 teenagers coming around from the unload area! They must have exited from their Doom Buggy at the end of the ride, then jumped back on when the CM wasn't looking! They got away with it too, because the CM at the load area did not notice as they passed by her from the backstage area!

I'm suprised that it doesn't happen more often..

How do you know they didn't ask the unload cast member if they could stay on?

And it happens daily.

Also, many guests with special situations must be boarded at unload for their convenience.

By the way, on a related note, the ride usually isn't broken when it stops. 99 times out of 100 it's a guest who needs help either getting on or getting off. Just convince yourself that playfull spooks have interrupted your tour and don't worry about problems.

Nevermind, I see you got corrected.

No, it's a dark area, absolutely nothing but darkness to see. It's also about the length of 6 or 7 buggies, so it's not a long ride. Unload is on the other side of the wall from load, and it's just a turn around the wall. The area inbetween is pitch black.

There actually was a Anniversary Limited Edition pin for TTA that came out in 2005. I wish I had known about it then since I was working that day it came out and could have gone down and bought one before work.

If this is the case, then where ARE the backstage areas?

Surely there must be a place to perform maintanance on the Doom Buggies etc, without removing them from the track?

Yes, there is one such area. No, I'm not telling you where. Yes, I like keeping my job.

I will tell you there's not much backstage to the Mansion. You can see just about everything.

Notice the empty room between seance and graveyard. That appears to be the maintenance room, the only place it could be.

The only place where it appears that it could be would be right beside ride load.

(picture coming)

Or, possibly where it's labeled maintenance! :hammer:

Nope, although they can work on buggies there if they have to.

And I can't think of where it says maintenance.

I've had this pic that I found online quite a long time ago, but I have no idea where it came from. I think it was doombuggies.com, but I just went there to try and post a link, but I couldn't find it anywhere on the site.

So, I posted my copy: (I don't know if this is WDW or Disneyland's Mansion)
hauntedh06.jpg

I've lightened it up a bit from the original. You can clearly see the junk of the attic behind the row of doombuggies. My guess is that this door is behind some curtains or other sort of masking on your left just as you enter the attic. (Note the wooden, removable floor platforms to ease of access to the undercarriage of the vehicles.)

I'm surprised, though, that they didn't install the access door facing the ballroom. The buggies would have their backs to the door at that point, not perpendicular to it like in this photo.
