Can you order tap water at restaurants?

I realize this might be a dumb question but just wondering. Most restaurants on property offer fancy waters like Evian and Perrier. Does this mean they will not bring you plain Tap Water for free or do they only offer the bottled waters when you ask for water?

Yes, you can. I don't drink anything but water and alcohol, so I always get tap water at every WDW restaurant.

The counter service places will give you a small cup. The table service restaurants will give you a full glass.

A lot of people think it tastes a bit sulfur-y even after filtering, but I am not picky about the taste of my water.

They have regular water, too. Just ask. We save a lot of money by asking for water at the counter services. Free, filtered, and cold!:)

"They have regular water too." The mind boggles. I ate at Via Napoli and just after I sat down, the server expertly suggested a carbonated bottled water without missing a beat. I picked up on that immediately and said, no thanks, I'll have tap. I bet they get added sales just from the slyly planted water pitch.

In Italy bottled water for a meal is the norm, they ask if you want it "with the gas" e.g. carbonated or not. I don't mind drinking bottled water in Florida as the tap water has a funky sulphur smell to it.

I always order water as my drink of choice. I can't stand the pre-bottled juices and I don't drink soda or alcohol.

That said, I always ask for bottled water because I do taste something strange when drinking tap/filtered water while in Florida. Even brushing my teeth gives me that weird taste.

Now, if only they offered freshly squeezed orange or pineapple juice...

Nothing but water and alcohol? Me, too! How biblical of us. ;)

The one and only thing I miss about traveling to Florida during the "good old days" when we could only afford to drive is stopping at the border into Florida for a visit to the Welcome Center and a glass of fresh orange juice! Even today, the very taste of it makes me feel like a kid again.

As far as I know all restaruants offer a free water - sometimes the free water is bottled, sometimes it is tap, but I have never seen a restaruant anywhere that does not offer some sort of free H2O

Heck, even Victoria & Alberts - which has a WATER MENU - like a wine list, has a free bottled water offering.

The bottled water can get extremely expensive. Depending on what it is, they can charge $15 per bottle. When you split that across a group of 4 the bill racks up very quickly.

They all offer tap water however.

Yes, you can get free water. I can't remember if it has a bad taste though. Bring your own Desani waters to the parks. We do thy and bring the solo kook aid packets. Saves about $40 a person a week.

Fl tap water is just plain yucky! And I live here!!! But one day, for the 3 of us, we saved our "water" receipts just for S-n-Gs. We spent a little over $60 on BOTTLED WATER!!!! But we don't drink soda so I guess that's normal:confused:

The bottom line is this: No one is forced to purchase bottled water anywhere. You can request tap. It amazes me that this is even being discussed. As to taste, that is a personal decision, and you can certainly purchase it if desired. I just happened to notice the slick maneuver at Via Napoli as soon as I sat down. I said, "No thanks, tap is fine." I'm spending enough money at WDW as it is.
