Can you identify this riverside que area?

Sorry no picture but between the Haunted Mansion and the River Boat Que there is another Que area that appears to never be used. As a long as I could remember there never was an attraction there.

Most likely the Keel Boats (#73 on this Guide Map) ...

It sounds like the Mike Fink Keelboat queue. The attraction closed in 1997. One story that I had heard was that the closing was due to one of the boats in Disneyland capsizing and dumping a full boatlaod of passengers into the water. Both DLR and WDW closed their attractions shortly after. As for myself, I only rode the boats once in the late 70's and found the seats cramped and very uncomfortable.

They were very different boats. The Keel boats were high wooden boats - imagine something shaped like the Contemporary floating on the water, but with a boat hull on the bottom. People were seated at the both the top and bottom, you climbed a staircase to the upper level.

I don't remember hearing about one of them tipping passengers out, but they could definitely become top heavy as the best views were from the top, and I do recall a bit of sway while loading & unloading.

I believe in recent years they've used the ramps and dock as a super-extended queue for the Mansion on the most-crowded days in the park.

Wen I was at Disneyland in 2005 we rode the keelboats. I never noticed any issue with them.

They were kind of fun. Certainly not in the league of a Space Mountain or a Big Thunder, but they were the type or minor attraction that added to the themeing of the immediate area and gave kinetic energy to the rest of the park (not unlike the Skyway or the People Mover). If I had to choose, I found them preferable to the canoes.

Thanks for the replies. I wouldn't want to be the one getting tossed in that river (bird toilet). It seems to me like Disney World has a thing for cut backs or has started with to much and couldn't keep up. I find the riverboat more fascinating but I would like to try the paddle boats. Another thing on my Disneyland to do list :).
