Can we do this?

We plan to stay at the CR (my childhood fav). Here is my dilema . . . it will be me, DW, dd8, dd5, dd4, and ds3. DS will only be three by a month. I know the rules of 5 to a room plus one under three in a pack and play, which he will still sleep in. We are buying tickets separately, so this is more of a room only deal. Can we do this? Since we are going to buy him a ticket, Disney is not out any money. We want a theme park view room, but cannot afford two rooms or one of the suite at CR.

while I am not a fan of breaking the rules. I understand your dilema.

Are you linking your room keys to your park tickets? If you are dont mention the youngest child on the reservation. Then just get him a ticket at one of the parks ticket booths. Then I would have your wife sit with the kids away from the registration desk like go to the shop or something while you register. So no one would know. ( even if not linking your park tickets to room keys) I would still have family away from eye sight of the desk.

Again I am not endorsing this procedure but its something that can be done.

There are a couple of problems with that scenario. (besides breaking the rules, of course :animwink:) If they are flying in, the youngest child will not be able to use Magical Express if he is not listed on the reservation. He will also not have a KTTW card, which every member of the party needs in order to take advantage of EMH. (if they wish to) Lastly, unless he is a very petite 3 year old, there is no way in heck he will fit in a pack n play. When our son was 2 years, 4 months old we planned for him to sleep in one when we stayed at the Poly, and he was way too big for it.

To the OP, your party would fit in a 2 BR villa at Bay Lake Tower. Or you can get 2 rooms. Unfortunately, your party size exceeds the room occupancy limits of a standard room at the CR, which are set by the fire marshall. Disney will not be happy if they catch you. It wouldn't be a risk I would be willing to take. Spending my vacation worrying about getting caught with too many people in the room is not my idea of a fun time.

Morals and rules aside, the two big problems are Disney's Magical Express and Extra Magic Hours. If you don't plan to use either of those perks, then nothing else will stand in your way.

Aside from skirting the rules, the EMH/DME problems, and the fire code violations, may I say

Holy Crowded Room Batman !!!

Where is everyone going to sleep ?

I assume the adults get one bed. Then three kids in the other, and a big ol' pack-n-play open in the floor. Maybe it's just me, but that sounds really cramped.

^^^Well, the resort they are in has the fold out single bed in the room as well.

I was just wondering, what if the OP said the child was still 2 yo instead of a few weeks into 3 yo? Not that I'm advocating cheating, but just thinking aloud.

DS will be 3yrs and 3 weeks when we arrive next Feb. He is very small though, only in the 15% on the growth chart. There are one year olds bigger than he is.
I am still trying to decide what to do.
thanks to all for your advice and opinions.

Ah, I was thinking CBR.

When I see somone trying to figure out cheaper options, I just assume they are not staying in a Deluxe, so I had CBR on the brain.

Althought I will continue to say - Holy Crowded Batman.

No kidding! We're just a family of 4 and we feel cramped in anything smaller than a 2 bedroom condo if it's for more than a couple days. I can't imagine squeezing a family of 6 into a tiny little room for an entire vacation. It just wouldn't even be fun.

You've bought him a ticket. He's not sleeping in a bed. This sounds like a complete non-issue from a practical or ethical standpoint.

Just tell the front desk that you have 2 adults, 3 big kids, and a toddler who's sleeping in a mobile bed. No need to volunteer ages. My guess is they don't even ask.

Have you ever made a Disney reservation??? They absolutely, definitely ask the name and age of every single person on the reservation.

So there goes the "ethical" part, since you brought that word up. You would be lying about the child's age. If one wants to brings ethics into it (I didn't bring it up, you did), then you'd be forced to lie about the child's age.

I understand the ethical issue, but lets be practical, a small three year old? Its the smae issue I run into with my twins, they're nearing the end of being able to say they are children for dining 3-9 but they wont eat off an adult menu - they want the childrens menu, I will say they are nine years old for the dining ressies, I will certainly NOT order adult food at a sitdown restaurant that they dont want to eat, its a waste of my money.

If that's the case, I'd just explain the situation in detail and note that the youngest one isn't sleeping in a bed. From the way the OP quoted the occupancy rule, it sounds like her party is within the spirit of the guidelines, if not the letter. I'd be surprised if they try to make an issue out of it.
