Can we bring snacks into the parks?

We're a family of 6, mom and dad, 14 dd, 12 ds, 10 ds and 1 dd. We are staying on-site but don't have a meal plan. Can my kids pack a few snacks and a water bottle into a pack to bring into the parks? Will they be taken away by security? What exactly is off-limits to bring into the parks?

Thanks.

You can bring any and all foods into the parks. You don't have to sneak or smuggle it in. It's perfectly acceptable. At the bag check before the turnstiles at all 4 parks, security CMs will see your food and won't bat an eyelash at it. You really can take in whatever you want in whatever quantities you want.

The only food related restrictions are:
  • no glass containers (except for baby food jars)
  • no alcohol
  • no rolling coolers or hard-sided coolers

I know at D/L when your on the tram there is a messege that says if your bringing outside food please use the picinic area outside the main gate. I have never heard this at WDW and I see people eating all kinds of outside food in the parks. Since I fly to WDW and use ME other than a few granola bars or something to keep the GF's kid quite we really dont bring anything with us. I do buy a couple of water bottles at the food court in the morning before I head to the parks, its the same stuff sold in the parks so no complaints.

As stated, no glass, booze, hard side or rolling ice chests. Of course with the exception of MK you can get booze in all the other parks if you want.

Before the dining plan we used to bring the small packs of cheese crackers in our backpack. Just something to tie us over to lunch. We never had a problem.

Don't forget you can't purchase gum on Disney property. So if thats a snack bring it with you.
I wonder why? It's a plague.:(

I've always brought in granola bars and little snack crackers (the peanut butter ones). No one has ever minded.

I've also seen lots of people with their own water bottles that they refill at the water fountains.

If you're bringing water bottles to refill yourself at fountains, I'd recommend bringing something like Crystal Light On the Go or Kool Aid Singles.

Florida water isn't the best tasting of things, and these little packets can be very handy in making it bearable. The Crystal Light ones are designed with bottled water in mind, so a half liter bottle is perfect for a single packet. The Kool-Aid ones are meant for 8 oz servings, so two packets work well for a half liter.

Good point. Since we aren't Crystal Light or Kool-Aid drinkers, we simply pack our own Brita Sports Bottles as they have filters built-in. They work great. We often fill them up at night and put them in the room fridge for morning as well.

I saw a family once that brought in a loaf of bread and they were making sandwiches. I don't think I would go THAT far but they sure are saving a lot of money. We always bring a couple of water bottles with us inside the parks. If we get thirsty after we finish those then we just buy more. We could fill our backback with more but it gets way to heavy to walk around all day in.

Where do you get the filters? We were told they were no longer being made. I know a few people on the boards here who have them and would love some filters.
