Okay, I've seen this seller sell these things on eBay for a while now and I wonder how they can have so many of them. It just doesn't make sense to me.

This seller is selling spoons and forks claiming that they are "HAUNTED MANSION 100% authentic attraction prop". I've been trying to authenticate this some way because if it's true, I'd love to have one, but I just can't see how it can be true. Seems too good to be true, and the seller has sold several of these on eBay. Unfortunately the seller makes their auctions private, so you can't go back and see how many of these exact items they've sold, but I've seen them list quite a few of these.

Anyhow, I wanted to see if anyone else might have some info or know a way that I might be able to verify their claim. They don't offer any verification other than their story, and the claim that they were "told that these weathered utensils were sitting on the birthday scene table for approximately 6 years". Seems pretty wishy washy to me. I mean, I could find an old silverware set, tarnish them up and make the same claims. :eek:

Any ideas if these can be real? :shrug:

You know what I just noticed. The picture of the table has been cropped from the seller's previous listings. In the older listings you could see a closer view of some of the silverware and it always appeared to me that the shape of the pieces they were listing wasn't identical to those on the table. They were off a bit, but now in his new table picture, he/she cut off the bottom so that you can't see the silverware that is closer to the camera. Doesn't smell right to me. Like I said, I've been watching the auctions for these for months now.

Sounds like someone that I work with that posts items on ebay listing them as "rare" or "retired" when they actually aren't at all. Just don't buy any Contemporary monorail playsets. They purchased 15 of them for $20 each (Christmas discount) and are selling them for $59 or more. That stuff makes me mad especially when they brag about it. :rolleyes:

But I do have a deep red hatbox from the old attic scene in HM when it went down for rehab a few years ago. I got it at Property Control and it now sits in my dining room. :D

You know what they say :brick: I would say that, along with the fact that the seller keeps everything private smells pretty fishy to me. I would ask them to provide some sort of authenticity before you buy.

I don't want to sound naive, but Fast Pass auction? Is that just someone selling old Fast Pass tickets?

I don't have an issue with someone making money with rare pieces that they want to sell, or making money when they buy something for a $1 and sell it for $5. More power to 'em and if they can provide someone else with something they want and make a few $s in the process, that's totally cool. I just get ed when someone is taking advantage of unsuspecting buyers. A fool and his money are soon parted, but it doesn't make it right, you know? And that's not to say that these auctions aren't legit, because maybe they are. I just find it suspicious that the seller makes most of their auctions private so no one can look back. It's not like they're selling explicit or sensitive items, yet they doesn't want people being able to see their past auctions. :mad:

I agree with you that if the auctions are not public, then it seems a bit off in my opinion. Just for giggles, maybe you could send the seller an email and ask him/her what kind of authentication he can show you. My guess is you won't get a response or you will get some drawn out story. Let us know if you do send an email asking for verification.

I like how the first thing the auction says in big bright red letters is "WELCOME FOOLISH MORTALS" lol. That and they misspelled "box" lol

Whether the silverware is really HM or not, big deal. My grandma has silverware that looks exactly like them. Nothing special.

Now if they had skulls or the letters HM or something on them, that might make them worth having. As they are, meh.
