I know u have to be at least fourty inches to take this ride. How strict are they about the height limitation. I've a 4 yr old and is 39.5 inches. Would he be allowed in the ride?? I've heard it's quite scary but he's really fascinated by them. Any personal experience with kids height limitations even in the other park rides. Do they let 0.5 to 1 inch differance go??

I've never been there with any children, but I know I was scared the first time I went on the Dinosaur ride. (I was about 15-16 years old) I wouldn't recommend that ride with any children, especially ones who get scared really easily. I'm not sure how strict they are with the height requirements, especially when it's only a small difference.

If you prep him with enough about how it's all imaginary and fun and he's a dinosaur fan anyway, he'll be fine. As for height, try, but be prepared for refusal. Don't try to argue with the CM, they're really looking out for his safety.

If your son is fascinated with dinosaurs, I'd recommend the Universe of Energy. My kids loved it at age 5.
The height restrictions are there for safety, which is of primary importance at WDW. Too short is too short--it doesn't matter if it is on half inch or 6 inches.
It is a VERY bumpy ride; people with back problems are cautioned against going on it and regret it if they do.

Your son is too short to ride. Those height requirements are there for safety reasons. Why would you want to put your child's life in danger to go on a ride?
I'd recommend the Universe of Energy as an alternative. There's also a bunch of fun dinosaur things in the rest of Dinoland.

My 4 year old was 39.5 inches during our November trip. We knew this before we left.
On our first full day at WDW, we were in MK and tried to go on Splash Mountain. We tried to just breeze past the CM, but he stopped us. He measured our daughter and she was just a finger-width short, and he denied her entry. We didn't argue or complain.
(funny story to follow) ....
Our daughter was bitterly disappointed, but we thought it important to still let our 6 year old son ride, so I went with him while my wife and 39.5 inch tall daughter stayed behind.
While I was on the ride, my wife tried to convince our daughter that the real reason they weren't allowed on was because "Mommy is too fat" and our daughter had to keep her company to make her feel better while my son and I rode Splash.
Fast forward to the first morning she woke up at home after our trip. She came bounding into our bed all happy. She told us that she grew taller in her sleep and that she'd be able to ride "that scary ride" at Disney World now. My wife mirrored our daughter's enthusiasm and celebrated with her, saying it was so great that we could all ride the ride together (if we were back at Disney World), all 4 of us together.
My daughter got a very serious look, lovingly put her hand on my wife's shoulder and said, "Sorry Mommy, you're not allowed to ride. You're still too fat." :lol:

I can tell you that they are very strict about the height. My dd has always been tall for her age. When we were at MGM when she was 5 we had her measured for Rockin' Roller Coaster. She was 1/2 inch too short and the CM said sorry. Talk about the disappointment.

I think I would try if he really wants to go. I still dont let my nephew get on when I take him and he's 8 but a small 8. I mean he's over 40" but he is very skinny and I think there is alot of herky jerkyness for him. But you know your kid better than me. I would also reccomend Ellen's Universe of Energy.

As a ride operator and attendant at another theme park, I just want to say THANK YOU FOR NOT COMPLAINING!
I have been yelled at, cursed at, have been called racist, and many many things I would rather forget. Unfortunately too short is too short! And please do not put you child in 1" sandals, your child is still too short. Sandals or no. I know its mean and cruel, but ITS FOR YOUR CHILD'S SAFETY!

Just curious...are you measuring him with or without shoes? Shoes do count in the height equation so you are not cheating or endangering your son. If you are measuring him without he just might be tall enough when you put s them on.

Unfortunately it was with shoes. But I'm prepared for a no at any 40'' requirment ride. If he can't take a ride that means no for me too. Because I'm gonna be there by myself with 2 kids (4 and 5 yrs). My husband can join me only after 2 pm each day. It's ok because this trip is devoted to my kids anyway.

Even if he's tall enough, if you haven't been on it yourself - I would ride it yourself first to gauge if he would be ok on the ride. It depends on the child's personality and how bold them are! I know my nephew (6) would freak out on the ride! It's very jerky and can be quite scary for an adult much less a child! But, every kid is different.

I feel for you CM's -- I've seen some terrible guest behavior toward CM's which is totally uncalled for. No one wants to see their child cry because they can't got on a ride, etc, but life goes on. You can't always get your way. CM's are there to provide everyone with a fun experience, but they're also there to make sure everyone is safe.
