Can Locals Meet Us at the Hotel?

We're planning to meet up with some friends who are locals one day during our trip. If possible, they wanted to meet us at Port Orleans and ride over to the Magic Kingdom on the bus with us. That way, we don't have to worry about finding each other at the park.

Is there any problem with me getting a parking pass and letting them us it? (We don't need it as we won't have a car.)

Is there any problem with them riding over on the bus with us?

Thanks in advance.

I would put it to the front desk this way - "I won't have a car my entire length of stay but I will have access to a car for some of my stay, so I'd like a parking pass, please." If possible, give them the make/model and plate #. When your friends arrive, getting in shouldn't be a problem whether they say they're visiting you or just getting a bite or going to the gift shop or just looking around, anyone can park for at least three hours. Just make sure you put the pass in the car before you hit the park. And this way if you wind up choosing to come back to the hotel and then going to one of the other parks later (assuming your friends have park hoppers), you can drive to that park and your friends can leave from there if they choose. You could book a restaurant in World Showcase that night, your friends can stick around for Illuminations and then head home while you take the bus back to your hotel.

We do it all the time, tell your friends to give the guard your name and room #, and just park in front by the check in area, u have had many people visit us while there and never any problems, you can also get an additional parking pass from the front desk if they are going to be with you more than a day.

That's why I suggest phrasing it as "I will have a car for part of my stay." Because the CM at the desk might try to engage in small talk, and if you start talking about it being a friend's car, oh, are these friends staying with you, because that's an extra couple of bucks more per night if they're staying with you there's only 2 adults max without a surcharge, oh, they're not staying with you and yet you want a parking pass for them, sounds like they just don't want to be hit with a parking fee..."

Technically, people who aren't staying in a resort can't park in the lot indefinitely. And every lot cop has heard the ol "we're just looking around and grabbing a bite certainly not parking here for the entire day to save 17 bucks" line. The odds of someone getting in trouble or getting towed are practically nil in the moderate resorts (more risk trying it in a monorail resort) but that doesn't mean it definitely won't happen, either.

But YOU as a guest have a right to a parking pass. So "I will have a car during part of my stay." They'll probably just give you a pass for the length of stay anyway.

We've done it more times than I can count, including at POR and POFQ. Every time they rode the buses with us no issue. If they're only staying for the day they just need to let the gate keeper know they're visiting you. They won't need a parking paper. The front desk people told us that those are used simply to let them know a car that's there day after day is suppose to be there (in terms of it just sitting in a parking lot). Just staying for the day without one is no different, for example, than when we check in and our room isn't ready and we have no reason to go back to the car so it doesn't get a parking tag until late at night or the next day. If all of you will be driving to a theme park get them a pass so they park for free. If you're still concerned about them parking in your resort lot you can always just let the front desk know you'll be having guests and ask they be left a parking paper.
