Hi everyone, while I know full well that you can buy pre packaged rice krispy treats to pack in your luggage...my kids don't like them so I'm wondering can I pack home made krispy treats in my carry-on to have at the airport and on the plane? Will I have a hard time at the airport?Do they need to be packaged a certain way?Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks :)

I don't think that will be a problem. I just traveled and went through security with almonds in a zip lock. They did not say anything at all.

You're more than allowed to pack that... you can pack anything that is not a liquid, Gel or Aerosol. I work for the airport police in Providence RI, i've seen people pack sandwiches etc...

As long as its not on the restricted items list, and fits in your luggage, you can pack it. There is always the chance you could get a rogue TSA agent, or one who is having a bad day, and they could use their "discretion" and deem them a safety hazard and confiscate them. Quoting from http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/prohibited/permitted-prohibited-items.shtm
It’s important to know that even if an item is generally permitted, it may be subject to additional screening or not allowed through the checkpoint if it triggers an alarm during the screening process, appears to have been tampered with, or poses other security concerns. The final decision rests with TSA on whether to allow any items on the plane.
It's highly unlikely, but the chance does exist.

I do recommend that you package them in clear plastic wrap and/or ziplocs so TSA doesn't have to open the container to "inspect" them if they have a question. Otherwise, you can bring any food items you want (subject to the "no liquids/gels over 3 oz." rule). We tend to fly during lunchtime and I bring lunch for four in my carry-on, packed in plastic see-through sandwich boxes. It's never been an issue.

As has already been stated you should have no trouble at all. I doubt anyone will even bat an eye. I have a friend who works for TSA and he once had a family come through with carry-ons filled with nothing but meat.
