Well, this went off the rails fast. (Surprise!) That's what the "Unwatch" button is for!
Sure, go at night..See what happens..
to be clear as stated before i bet with enough money (like lots like the money you buy parks out for) disney would give you an escorted tour of some kind? i mean lets be real if i showed up with a million dollar suit case and all they have to do is walk me around some old water park?
Simply put..Just enjoy it's Past....Not it's Present...Because it's just nothing...
"Snakes! Why'd it have to be snakes?!"
Now you can! Introducing Disney's all new Magical Lower Than scum and trashy ruins Tours...
Embark on all new magic when you get whisked away starting at your meeting area of the back alley of CVS Pharmacy outside of the resort.

Once you arrive you meet out amazing CM's Clem & Emil...
From there you can see River Country.....

Didn't anyone ever tell you that if you hear banjos, paddle faster?
Man, I just watched his and Martin Short's special on Netflix. I didn't even know they came to Greenville! (So close to home)Even if it's Steve Martin playing?
Check this album out...Man, I just watched his and Martin Short's special on Netflix. I didn't even know they came to Greenville! (So close to home)
I didn't know Steve could play, and dang he plays the banjo very well.
Very cool. Do all of the songs have lyrics, or does he have some music that is just all banjo with other acoustics?Check this album out...

Disclaimer: I am not Steve Martin, nor am I Edie Brickell, but I do own a copy of this album 'cause the music's good.
Mostly it's Edie Brickell singing over his picking and some background musicians. There's a song or two where you can hear him in the chorus. On Yes She Did, it's a pure duet. There are a couple of songs available on YouTube... I suggest you watch those before deciding to buy. The musical style will not be everybody's cup of tea.Very cool. Looks so much fun!!! I regret never going to River Country at least just once on one of my WDW trips. Same with Discovery Island.
Hahaaha They were letting people go three at a time back then! Wow. And the intertube one....they just let people go down and slam into each other! lol My how times have changed in terms of waterpark/pool safety. I actually nearly drowned in a waterpark splashdown pool when I was 6 or 7 years old and have no doubt in my mind that it was due to safety regulations not being as strict back in 1985 as they are today. It would never have happened with today's safety rules in place.
The rapids were amazing. A bunch of people would pile up at the beginning and go down the water fall to start it off. It was an innertube ride that was more reminiscent of bumper cars moreso than a not so lazy river. There were a couple of spots where the jets would just propel you. And at times the very end would get crowded and you and about 5 other tubes would make the final splash together.
As a little kid, this was always a first day thing for my family. Followed by changing clothes in the RC bathrooms and off to the late seating of Hoop Dee Do. Great Times.
Just go ahead an walk around and take pictures. If anyone stops you tell them I said you could.I know that it’s restricted but is there any way that I can get Disneys permission to enter the park to walk around and take pictures? I’m fascinated by abandoned water/theme parks and I lately I am on a kick with River Country, especially given its age (42 years) and it’s uniqueness..I think seeing the park would be a charming yet eerie experience which I love. I’d like the once in a life time opportunity to experience river country before they knock it down and build over it next year...
I’ve seen videos of youtubers going there illegaly but it’s not worth a lifetime ban from Disney lol. So any advice or pointers would be greatly appreciated!
