Can I do it?

Assuming that there is an 11:00 show of Fantasmic at the Studios this summer, is there going to be enough time after catching Reflections of Earth at Epcot to get to MGM??? About how long is the walk through the International Gateway, through the Yacht and Beach Club and Boardwalk resorts to the gates of MGM to catch the show at 11? Thanks

Sure- I once saw Illuminations at 9:00 and then the fireworks at the Magic Kingdom at 10:00. Even though we ran - I mean really ran. We took the Monorial and got there with about 10 minutes to spare. Anything is possible if you put your mind to it!

I'd advise gainst it.....

Theres usaully a big rush out of epcot towards the main gate......but because ur going to the IG then ur cutting down on time.......

the boat ride to MGM may take a while......they never run on a strict shcedual....

I never knew there was a walk way to MGM... I don't think there is.......

The main line is it all depends on what time illuminations is.....u might have a chance.......

but if you can work it out always count on herds leaving MGM after the previous Fantasmic show!!

Consider one hour to get to the Studios from Epcot and be able to enter the park on time to queue for Fantasmic. Go for it if you feel like it, but don´t rely on that only night to see Fantasmic. Make sure you see it, don´t risk it... :animwink:

There's a walkway from the Boardwalk to MGM.

If you're able to jog or walk at a fast clip all the way, the crowds aren't too bad, and you know EXACTLY where you're going, I suspect that it's doable.

Yes, just walk out of international gateway and head towards the Boardwalk. (I'm sure you can cut through the hotel). Then walk along the river.

It may be tough, but you should be able to do it if you walk quickly. Also, be respectful to other guests leaving the park. Don't knock them over in a hurry to get to the Studios (Sorry but I just hate people who do that...so I had to mention it).

Are you guys sure??? I mean think about it...Illuminations ends at around 9:15 right? It will take about an hour to get to MGM and if theres a late show of Fantasmic, such as 11:00...that would mean it would be very crowded? This would mean the only way to get a seat would be if you got there very early. When I went during the summer we arrived about 2 hours earlier and just made it in with blahhhh seats. Well I don't know, it sounds iffy to me but I mean go for it man! I am probably wrong...I'm almost wrong about everything :(

if you look at the June hours, I'm not even sure disney will have two Fantasmic!s during the summer...even if they did, I would think the second would start at 10 or 10:30. I would recommend taking the boat to the first resort it goes to (Boardwalk or Y&B) and walk from there. If you are just going from one stop to the next, the ferry would be faster.

The walk may take a while. I walked that walkway 2 years ago and it took about 45 minutes or so but I walk fast and there was no one else on the path.

The boat takes a while and stops at 3 other ports to load and unload new passangers. The wait at those ports may be up to 5 minutes depending on how many people have the same idea as you to get to MGM for the show.

Be sure to possition yourself by the International Gateway during RoE to be sure you are one of the first out. But be forwarned, get to that spot early because other Epcot Resort guests will be doing the same.

Can't do it in June b/c the last Fantasmic is at 9:00. You would have to be in two places at one time. Don't know about July/August. I also agree about the lines. To get decent seats, you need to line up 1 1/2 to 2 hours before show time to get a decent seat. One time, we lined up with about 45 min before show time and had to stand up for the whole show.

you can do it..... just make sure you watch illuminatins right near the international gateway.. other wise you will have trouble getting through the crowd after illuminations.... I have never walked from the yacht and beach to mgm.. even though I have stayed at the beach several times I think the boat would be quicker... but my guess would be 45 min tops if you walk at a decent speed.....

I always heard that the 11 show was SO much less crowded then 9. Hmmm... OK thanks everyone! Don't know if I'm going to do it, we might. We'll see. I'll let you know in an extensive trip report when I get back.

11 o'clock show

When I worked Fantasmic, the 11 o'clock show was the way to go. It rarely filled up to capacity or even standing room. I have also made the journey, but the opposite way. I have seen the 7 o'clock Fantasmic! and then walked to see Illuminations at 9. That only gives you an hour and a half to get out of the Fantasmic mess and travel to EPCOT. I am assuming it can be done the other way.

Don't fret!! It can be done!!!!

Where's your car?

This may be a no-no with Disney, but if you're doing this for one day it should be fine (If you're planning to just see Illiminations and Fantasmic only). You can try parking your car at the Yacht and Beach club. Just tell the guard that you're planning to go to lunch at ESPN, Spoodles or just visiting the resort area. Park the car and head to Epcot from there. If you can, try to find a place as close to International Gateway (IG) as possible. Okay, for a good place to view Illuminations and a good way out, stay somewhere near france or UK. I would highly suggest getting a spot just outside the French Island. Where's the French Island? If you're entering from IG walk till you get till UK, make a right and head to the bridge. There will be a spot where there's a stairway. When you get there, stay right there. You may not be able to enter down the stairs as there may be a convention (I worked as a convention guide). If there is one you still have a great view, just stand behind the taped line :). You may need to get there a bit early cause once there's a crowd it may be hard to see. Okay so now it's 9:20 or so and the crowds are making a mass exodus for Spaceship earth...all you need to do is leave from IG and head back to your car. From there drive over to the Studios (it's only 5 min away). Hopefully there will still be plenty of space for you to watch Fantasmic too!

Well that's my "master plan" to watch both of the shows. Good luck getting to both of the shows.
I hope this helps :)
