Has anyone ever recorded stuff on a DVD Cam-corder and when you play it back for the first time, it get stuck? Why is this? Can't be because there's a smudge or a scratch. They hadn't been used yet.

Hmm... unproven technology. Check the disc is a good one (not unbranded) and try finalising it even to play back in the camera.

Just because it hasn't been used yet doesn't mean there couldn't be a scratch. It's not uncommon for a defective product to be packaged and shipped to the store, and I'm sure there are plenty of cases of a DVD getting scratched as it's being packaged. I know I've put in a DVD before to watch for the first time and found that it was scratched and had to replace it. So it can happen.
