This is going to sound completely stupid but I'm looking for another gold lanyard. I have 3, need 4. I'm sure you're wondering what the heck for. Get ready to laugh. We're sailing on our first cruise NOT on DCL next month. Gonna be on Allure of the Seas. We've decided to sport DCL shirts every day of the cruise. Thought another nice touch would be to carry around our Sea Pass cards in DCL lanyards. Gotta represent! So, if you have an extra of the gold lanyards that you don't need would ya mind helpin' a girl out? I can trade ya for a box of the gold notecards, the journal, or a few bucks. Lemme know! Thanks!

That's hilarious by the way.

Ah, it's alright, @Disneyfalcon . I combed eBay but turned up nothing. I'll keep working on it. Now to rustle up some good door magnets.... If only I knew someone sailing on a Disney ship in the next week or so. I'd get them to snap pics of the door numbers that are on the stateroom door that correspond to the stateroom numbers we will have on Allure. Then I could blow 'em up, make magnetic door numbers, then use our mouse ear magnets as per usual. LOL!

Well, there's a new listing for a used one on eBay that I'm watching now. But, hey, if anyone has one they don't mind parting with...or any of the lanyards...lemme know. I might be willing to buy them. Been thinking of trying to weave them and make a bag sorta like the Harvey's seatbelt bags. :D

They aren't gold, but I have some silver ones if you are interested. I was the only one that wore mine... I kept up with my card as well as the 2 kids cards. My wife kept her card in her pocket. Let me know. :)

We just cruised the Freedom o t Sea in Sept and did just what your wicked mind is telling you to do. I saw a few other DCL geeks wearing them as well. I also wore at least one article of clothing from DCL everyday and MM ties for formal night. Had a DCL hat with a trading pin from each DCL ship I wore on the top sun deck on my walks. Had a ball. Great reactions from the crew. All in good fun even from the officers. Actually you will find it practical since RC does not issue lanyards but offer them for sale in the Logo shop. A DCL one will be a great conversation starter. We took some of our favorite magnetics for the door as well. If you do not already know and plan to sail on RC again join their club on board or before sailing. They do not automatically enroll you like Disney does in the Castaway Club.

Hint..no wave phones. Think about walkie talkies if you are dependent on wave phones.

Don't have any gold ones but if you do not need uniformity I can come up with a Plat for you.

I suppose you know to expect some significant differences between the two lines.

I am an equal opportunity cruiser. Have a booked cruise on both lines coming up.

Enjoy. Bon Voyage.

Hey there, @wogwog ! You're a busy cruisin' fellow, aren't ya? Not that I haven't spent much time on ships recently. LOL!

Most of the reason we want to deck ourselves out in our DCL finest is for the benefit of the family we're cruising with. We're sailing RCI because they won't sail DCL. The hubby's family have interesting senses of humor. LOL!

Been combing Cruise Critic forums like a studious little noob gleaning oodles of info bits:

Yep on enrolling in the C&A thing.

We were discussing our options for communication without Wave phones just yesterday. Think we're gonna go old school: post-it notes.

Got my Rum Runners on the way. Bought the boys their soda packages. Find the alcohol & soda situation somewhat annoying.

We're keeping running tabs to compare the final tally since all you ever hear is how expensive Disney is compared to RCI. So far we just don't see it.

Expecting the Allure to be very different. In some ways we already dislike it (ie. pre-booking shows, paying for soda, won't have Wave phones, have to plot to bring our own alcohol, etc). But there's some things I'm looking forward to like better variety of options for dining when we don't feel like dressing for dinner, entertainment variety, adult pool area (we all can use because its 16 & up), and things like that. I'll definitely be reviewing the experience in a trip report somewhere, I guess maybe in the chit-chat section or other destinations section.

Thanks for the offer on the platinum lanyard. Boy, I could totally jack with my old man and his "cruise career" joking. With the girls cruise I'm 1 up on him for total number of cruises. I've got 7 while he has 6. :D

Hi Sweetpea,

My kids and I are traveling on the Dream this Sunday, the 13th. (My birthday!) I'd be happy to help out in any way I can. I'll be gold after this cruise..I'll play the birthday card and see if I can get you a lanyard.;) Let me know what stateroom numbers you need and I'd be happy to get you pics. It'd be an adventure for the kids.:):)

Thank you so much for the offer! I just pulled up deck plans to check that our corresponding Allure room numbers actually exist on the Dream. Unfortunately, 1 does but 1 does not. ((We booked 2 staterooms across the hall from each other to save a few bucks. I'm afraid to try sailing with teens in 1 stateroom without a split bath.)) I guess I'll have to come up with some other maniacal plan to adorn our stateroom door appropriately. I've got plenty of ideas. ;) Thanks so very much for your generous offer, tho. That's so very sweet of you!

I have a gold one I can mail to you.

Going on an NCL cruise next week and was going to take them, but decided I will use work ones instead.

Well if you aren't going to use it, I'd loooove to have it. But only if it's something you won't need. Seriously. As many as I have already it's almost silly to ask for another. I'm just 1 short on the gold ones. :D Let me know for sure and I'll send ya my address. Thanks so much!

Not to mention there are no banana soft serve machines!:banghead: We went on the Jewel of the Seas last October and my husband was constantly mentioning how he missed the soft serve machines on the Dream! I was annoyed at having to buy a soda package...and we bought rum runners to sneak booze on..we had a blast, but nothing compares to a Disney cruise! ;) Have a great time!

My BiL has been on Oasis and said they have ice cream. Free ice cream, not just the scooped stuff you have to pay for. I hope there's some free ice cream on Allure. My poor hubby may jump ship. Literally.

I've got 9 - 16oz Rum Runners. How did you pack yours? Did you strategically place them? They let you bring 2 bottles of wine per stateroom for in-room consumption. I swapped the hubby out with one of the boys in their room so we have 2 rooms with legal people so I can have 4 bottles. It's rather annoying, though, to have to plan so carefully how to work things. Disney has the right idea. We brought plenty of liquor on our last cruise and still easily spent $500+ in bar tabs.

Right before the cruise I was on cruise critic reading how peoples liquor was bring found and confiscated...I was stressing! So I ended up dispersing water bottles throughout my luggage...and when we went through security my husband had cargo shorts on with really big pockets. So I put one rum runner in each pocket, and I had a jacket on so kinda hid the third one under my shirt. We went on a Canadian cruise out of Boston, so I don't know if security was more relaxed there then other terminals we had been to, but we go on no problem. I swear I felt like I was on an episode of locked up abroad. It is really annoying though. Not trying to bring on hundreds of dollars or liqour...just some to enjoy in the room! When we went on the Disney Dream it was nice to be able to bring a 6 pack of beers to drink in the room. And we also still had a decent bar bill.
