California grill. The view is the best in Orlando the food is unbelievably good. Jiko is a very good restaurant but some of the food is kind of an acquired taste. Try to book a late dinner and you can watch the fireworks from the roof.

California Grill. Why? Some of the best service I have ever experienced (on or off property). EVER. And that was at the bar. Dennis, the bartender (is that what they are called there?) was a cool guy to talk to!!!!!! I can oly imagine what Wishes is like from the view there!!!!!!!

Jiko is a GREAT restaurant.
California Grill is a PHENOMINAL restaurant.

-jiko: very nice, good service, unique food and beverage choices.

-California Grill: Great decor, great food, AMAZING staff (some of the friendliest I've ever seen; from the hostess, to the bar tenders, to our waiter, they were all superb!) And finally, the breath-taking view. They pipe in the music and dim the lights as wishes goes on at the magic kingdom park. It is the ultimate experience whether just a dinner out with the family or a romantic dinner for two.

I'm not sure there's much out there that can top California Grill.

hope that helps! :)

Not California Grill

Sorry, this is my reocurring rant. The food is superior and the servers are top rate, but the guests there are at their worst, it is the one restaurant on property that (in my experience) is always close to or exceeds the 30 minutes on a PS time, and the buildup to watching the fireworks is overrated. Half of the restaurant is mostly obscured from the view, and if you hoof it up to the roof, your meal suffers. People make early reservations then hang around for an hour or more after finishing nursing a dessert or drink. If anything, I feel sorry for the servers here. They are often apologizing, dealing with guests who are angry even before they get to the table...and take it out on their tips.

So, if you offered to take me to dinner and pay, I would choose Jiko...although I really enjoy Artist's Point and of course there is always THE experience of V&A's. :slurp:

Your PS at CG @ 5:30 should time out just right for Wishes. We were there in Nov. and had a 5:40....the meal came just as Wishes was commencing....do you have a large party going....it will affect where they sit you (i.e. larger parties cannot have a window seat but where we were at was perfect even with a party of 5).If you can get Gary (server), you'll be in great hands...ask him about Muhammed Ali (sp).

Enjoy!!

Cali is an exerience EVERY guest should have at least once, for us its pretty often. Great creative food, incredible wine list, helpful staff-and the view is perfect. With a decent wine and a desert $75-100/ person- worth every penny.

Let your server know that you want to see the fireworks and he/she will work your meal around it. Also it is a real good idea to get there kind of early and again let them know that you want to see the fireworks and they will try to sit you against the window. Don't worry if there inset a table next to the window because they have a huge observation deck to watch from.

if you ask that question i will ask you this, apples or oranges. i loved both places but you cant compare the 2. i enjoy jiko just because its so different. cali grill was a great atmosphere but its sooooo crowded and it took about an hour and a half to get our table during a week day even with priority seating. but i think priority seating is a joke anyway.

anywho ejoy your meal wherever you go.
