Rumor Bye Bye (Tiki) Birdies?

Here's my question/thought. Would they be able to fit Mystic Manor into the space?

Given prior rumors that part of the upcoming 50th anniversary celebration would include copies of existing rides from other parks around the world. coming to WDW Adventureland would be a perfect spot for MM. I would be willing to lose the tiki room (or the treehouse for that matter) if we got MM back in return.

Thoughts?
I don't think you could even fit the queue that would be needed for MM in this space. That's what makes this rumor so puzzling, there's not much you can do here and "too popular" would actually be a problem. I'm not the biggest fan of the show in its current state, but it is a classic that fits the area it is in. Guess that's why they want it gone. ;)

No, there's actually people who have been going to Disney for the same amount of time, and still love it.

It's crazy to continue to watch people say ridiculous comments such as Disney World is headed to implosion. That's just not true.
Take one look at the parks. It isn't happening. People still love Disney.

Why would anyone be on a Disney web site if they are calling for a boycott? It doesn't make sense. If they, the same group who spews negativity and doom and gloom over and over.. yet admittedly doesn't even visit anymore..if they enjoy spending their spare time ranting over a theme park, fine.
But expect that people will try to point out reality. And reality is- Disney World is extremely popular and still loved by countless people. They aren't closing their gates anytime soon..more like- creating new lands.. Lands that will most likely be amazing.

If you are interested in only a one sided discussion of Disney, they are other fan sites out there that might be a better fit for you. Yes, there are a handful of people here who unreasonably negative, and there are a few who are unreasonably positive, but the major are pretty balanced and I for one like hearing both sites of the discussion.

As for whether Disney is headed for implosion, you have one opinion, other a different one, neither can be said to be true or false. The history of business is littered with companies that were once at the top of their industry but were then destroyed by bad decisions. Personally I don't think the parks are in any immediate danger, but I am not foolish enough to thing that there is nothing Disney could do that would hurt their popularity.

So what's the visits-per-year threshold for being able to think critically about WDW? How much does one have to spend on a declining product before you consider their opinions valuable?

As has been pointed out again and again, people criticize Disney because they love it. I love the innovations Disney made in American amusements. I love the WDW parks at their peak. I love Epcot Center before it became a pathetic shell full of food stands and shuttered rides. I am fascinated by the place the parks and their parent corporation occupy in American culture.

WDW will not implode. But even Disney can burn through all the goodwill they've accumulated, and once they have they won't be able to get it back.

If you want to engage uncritically with WDW, that's fine. Disney will oblige by continuing to offer the declining caliber of service at the rising prices that have defined the Orlando parks for decades.

Everyone's opinion is valuable. But, it IS an opinion. Maybe you've outgrown something, maybe your interests have changed... that opinion doesn't mean that people should join your crusade..and it does not mean that new things are not being added to the parks, they are.

I haven't seen one person say that Disney was 100% perfect. I've seen most people criticize something. What I don't understand is clinging to the past.. mourning things that have been gone for several years...having real anger over them to the point where you can't see anything else.

We could all go on and and on about many things in the past- Epcot...Mr. Toad's..:Lower prices, at more than just Disney...less commercialism..skin that doesn't contain any wrinkles..less need for security everywhere.. etc etc.

Some of us just do not constantly look to mourn the past. It doesn't do any good. That does not mean that people aren't critical of Disney.. it means they choose not to cry over decades old spilled milk.

Perhaps because they have fond memories of how WDW once was, and are distressed by the direction the parks are taking? Or simply because they have an opinion? Perish the thought, I know....

But if someone feels passionate about something they are totally within their rights to start a crusade, everyone is the free to join or ignore, that up to them. The only point at which it steps over the line is when one person attacks another because they will not join the crusade.

It could also be argued that a lot of your posts are a crusade against people who are negative about the parks.

No, it didn't. The idea for the restaurant was scrapped before the attraction opened.
I guess I didn't word that properly. Yes, I know it didn't see the light of day, however, my point was that the original intent was for it to be a restaurant then decided against. Obviously, decided against since it doesn't exist as one. So the design could easily lend it self to being a restaurant.

I have to ask, how come everyone gets all sure that the fact that the design for the Mine Train had a much larger track is a sin against nature if the Disney bosses decided to make it different, yet can easily deny something because it never was reality, just like the original layout for the train, just a concept.

I think what myself and others are saying is- stop with the extremes. You just addressed me saying that I want one sided discussions? That's quite a leap. that's the problem.. gross assumptions and insults.
Can't we just have discussions based on opinions, but grounded in reality...? I just don't see why it has to be one extreme or the other.

I don't want to see the birds go.. I would be livid if the treehouse, or TS Island, or CoP left. I don't see Disney getting ride of such staples, but who knows- they very well could.
I'd also hate to see the Speedway leave ..
Change stinks. Discussion on change is good, being sad over change is normal.

When someone here addresses someone else, without insults and attacks or assumptions.. pointing out the positives., they automatically get pounded on as a "Pixie Duster".. that's not what I see. I see people trying to have a conversation about a place that they love as well..who are pointing out actual facts, not climbing on some bandwagon of WDW demise.

ETA- I just read your next comment about "my posts". That's exactly what I was talking about.

Anyway, this wasn't supposed to become a big convo. It was just a response to a particular poster. An explanation, not an argument. NOT everything is always one extreme or the other. That's all.

It seems we each have a different threshold for what the extremes are, I haven't seen anything so far in this thread that constitutes an extreme view.

Saying your posts are overwhelmingly positive is no where near close to the insults you are talking about, if people are attacking you at that level then the posts should be reported.

Didn't the Tiki Room start out as a restaurant? Probably everyone was constantly having to cover there soup for fear that the birds might do their bird thing and they were right overhead.
That was the original intent --- a dinner theater. But Walt put the kibosh on that for exactly that reason, he thought everyone would be paranoid about their food being pooped on. Personally, I think they should just remodel the exterior to mirror what's in Disneyland -- a snack bar and pre-show -- to let people take food inside.

I would like to know what the replacement plan is before I panic.
I panic regardless of the replacement plan.

Hands off the Tiki room! Tiki ties together the MK with the Poly, ties together Adventureland with Tomorrowland. Just open it up for Citrus Swirls or for that noob snack they serve nowadays, like in DL. That should get the crowds back in. Certainly now that all of AL's seating space has been usurped by the plastic kiddie spinner. Much better than closing it for a 'Club 33 grand won't even buy you entry to our toilet'.
