I still find it a fun ride. wife & I get a little competitive sometimes (I let her win :)). only issue we've had is the occasional gun not working properly. otherwise, buzz lightyear to the rescue!

How to fix Buzz: ride MiB instead.

Honestly, though:
-Scrap the (usually broken) spinning controls altogether,
-Unmount the guns and put them on cords,
-Replace as many of the plywood cutout targets as possible with actual, full figured AAs.

And, while you're at it, do away with FP (on all omnimovers), make the queue presentable and move the Buzz AA to halfway through the queue, and fix the doors on the cars.

While I enjoy TSMM, I love shooting at ACTUAL TARGETS instead of a screen. And that drawstring gun is exhausting...

Not trying to be argumentative, but I've never experienced a broken spin control. That would obviously ruin the who experience, so I would have remembered.

I think the ride is fun, but agree an easier trigger would be nice. Never realized though that you can just hold the dern thing down as @draybook suggested.

I enjoyed Buzz when it came out but it is running itself into the ground. It's looking really cheap. Imho, Midway Mania makes it obsolete. And it is almost 16 years old. Way over do for a replacement. The ride clearly wasn't made to be there for ever. Get some cool non-IP ride in there.

We find both fun for what they are. Honestly, I prefer the Buzz gun. I find the Toy action tiring. Then again, I'm not a guy...

We need time for things to happen.
I LOVE me some Toy Story, however I've never been a big fan of this attraction.
It always seemed like a beefed up carnival ride.

For me it's not the ride that is irrelevant, it's the theme. Having 2 shooting type games both based on toy story (although different systems) is just a bit redundant to me. It doesn't help much that Buzz looks about as cheap of a ride there is. They spent the whole budget on the Buzz AA and then went "Oh crud, we still need to make a ride and queue!" Give it a big update with no plywood cutouts and re-theme the queue and I would have no problems keeping it. My preference would be keep the ride system but re-theme to a different IP.

Still a great ride (needs some TLC though).
And its not going away as it has a high capacity

TSMM is s nice ride, but other than M&G's it the most over rated thing at WDW.
The theme has zero relevance to the movies, breaks just as often as Buzz, and seems short for the wait.

All of central Florida needs more attractions like Buzz Lightyear a Space Ranger Spin and fewer like Toy Story Midway Mania!.

I agree it's odd that they chose to do two shooters, but Buzz actually has real set pieces where TSMM is a series of screens. So I think that's an advantage for Buzz.

Like some of the other posters, I feel like this ride could use some improvements and TLC. I especially hate when I get a gun that isn't working properly or Buzz is down and I have no idea what to do in that projection room. That being said, it is and has always been my 14 year olds favourite ride at the Magic Kingdom and one that we do multiple times a day when we are there. I have not seen the DL version, so I cant comment on the differences.

To be fair, I worked the attraction, so I was well familiarized with which cars would have malfunctioning guns, stuck doors, or (most popularly, and something I noticed even as a guest) listing lazily to the left.

Holy crap, that is so annoying! Unfortunately, most of them do it so I've mastered the art of gently correcting but not as to mess with his aiming. Once he's maxed out I go to work on those targets.
