Buy a Bride scene in POTC

Hi guys. :wave:

I asked this question in another thread but it never got answered so I thought I would ask again. Are they planning on removing the buy a bride scene in Pirates Of The Caribbean? I heard somewhere (not really recently) that it was offensive to some women. I personally don't find it offensive. I didn't find the scene where the pirates were chasing the women offensive either. I hope they leave it like it is. I think they start messing things up when they change things like that, but of course that's just my opinion. :)

No, I doubt they'll remove that scene. I haven't heard anything about it being offensive recently, although I'm sure someone somewhere has said it at least once. Point is, there isn't really much controversy over it as much as I can see, so that means it'll stay. I don't see how people can get so worked up over stupid things. It's a humourous depiction of pirate antics.

I hope they don't remove ANY of the scenes from PotC (just add to it). People are too easily offended by the simplest of things. I think that scene is HILARIOUS! I'm getting sick of this PC crap. BTW: The "Redhead" is in the PotC movie, for those of you who didn't know. (I'm sure most of you picked up on this, though)

I am so sick of this "offensive to women" BS. Pirates were NOT nice people. They were cunning and ruthless. They took what they wanted... that included women. If some people can't deal with that, well then they shouldn't ride Pirates of the Caribbean. Simple as that.

They changed it a couple tears back for all the feminists who cried foul. Now the women are chasing the pirates instead of vice versa. Sheeesh, talk about being neutered...

Don't forget the pirate plopped down by the canal holding the napkin. Before the PC Revision he had a speech loop about the girl he was chasing and was waving her dress around in his hand, "I be willing to shaaaaare I beeeee!" You could see a girl's head popping out of a barrel behind him and looking around. Now the pirate gives a ridiculous speech about trying to find different kinds of food, "Where be that fish dinner I been a cravin'?"

I sure hope they don't change it! "We want the redhead!" is a classic! I try to work that line into conversations whenever I can (Which was alot easier when I had a red-haired girlfriend ;))

They actually had a girl stuffed in a barrell. That's hillarious. :lol: I don't support that type of behavior by any means, but honestly, thier pirates, what better did pirates have to do than chase women around and stuff them in barrells. Let's start a petition to bring the girl in the barrell back.

Well said! :sohappy: I hate how people get offended so easily these days. One mother said that her children were traumatized by the usage of the word "Poopoo Head" in a bug's life. :rolleyes:

Just one thing to say to people that get sooooo easily offended:

Suck it up buttercup!

PC is baaaaaaaaaad! If we continue on this path, there won't be any of that diversity that all the PC people are always screaming about.

Please leave the rides alone! :D

I remember that scene from years back. However, if I'm not mistaken the girl was HIDING from the pirate in the barrel. I didn't realize they had changed all that. It seems anymore you have to worry about every single word you use for fear of offending someone's "delicate sensibilities". One of my biggest pet peeves is when they sanitize history to make it PC. What has happened is what has happend and needs to be recorded that way. Like everyone else has said - pirates weren't nice guys !! Next thing you know the one being whacked by the broom will be sweeping the woman's porch instead !!

I know they changed the pirates speech, (I can't really hear what he says now, it seems alot quieter), but isn't the girl hiding in the barrel still there? I could swear I just saw her there recently.

I remember a few years back the audio for "We wants the Red head" was turned down.... however i only remember that happening for a while.

(I hate PC.... this ride was a classic... oh and the CD still has the old speech... so if all comes bad you can turn the CD on and listen to it while watching the ride... hehe
