But Seriously !

One of my greatest regrets in life is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity I had to try something a bit silly that I did NOT do when I was about 25 because I was embarrassed and worried about what other people (who I would never see again) might think. At least it was a good life lesson because I have never made that mistake again. Even something like going to a wedding and wanting to dance but there being no people on the dance floor - if a good song comes on, I will always grab my husband now and be the first couple on the floor so we can enjoy the dancing, no matter how many sets of eyes are watching us. I tell my children all the time about that Dr. Seuss quote: "People who matter won't mind, and people who mind don't matter." Point being, wear the ears and enjoy yourselves!

I don't mind when people stare, it doesn't bother me at all and they'd either get my "b word" face or my overly sweet smile face.

The only time I've ever been made to feel self conscious/judged was when a family tried to smoosh themselves against us in a parade and then took my MILs spot when she bent forward to pick up a shoe! The husband/son literally had his crotch to my butt. We told them they can't stand there and need to move to somewhere else. The wife/woman called me a "b word", but they did move. I felt like I needed to go get tested or something afterwards. Hahaha

I'm asking because I really don't know - is it mostly old people who stay at the Grand Floridian, or have reason to be in the lobby? I would find that strange, but I don't know. If I'd been in your situation, I think I would have been wondering "Why are all these old people here?" (non-judgementally, of course.) I was only in the GF once, and it was a long time ago for just a little while, so I don't even remember what kinds of people I saw there.

Oh I don't know, I'm sure the guests are varied. There were families that passed through and a group of young guys, but predominately older ones (70's?). It was a 7:30 dinner reservation so maybe that's their wine and reading time lol.

Oh my gosh! That's crazy! I definitely would have asked him to back off:depressed:.

I'm a 33-year-old woman and I proudly wore my Minnie years to every park, every day of my vacation. Tell them starers to mind their own freaking business and don your ears with gusto!

To answer your question I've never been made to feel uncomfortable by anyone at the parks, but I'm extremely self conscious about my previous size and I still believe I weigh way more than I do right now and in the parks I felt like everyone was looking at me and judging me. It took me a few days to understand people could care less if I weighed 400 or 170 pounds, they were there to have fun and not to judge others (well, most of them at least).

I have figment ears with my name on them. I wore them a lot in the world. My kids have ears with their names on them. My husband is a boring old fart who wouldn't dream of doing such a "chav" thing. My dad has ears, and a tattoo of Cinderella's Castle with Mickey standing in the doorway, Peter Pan flying over it with Tink and Captain Hook. We are all, except my husband, getting glow with the show ears for next month's Paris trip, with our names on them. Can you tell who I'm not blood related to lol.
In short, even when members of your own family frown upon it, do it anyway. I'm in a place when I am expected to act childlike - so I will!

Never mind what others think of your wearing ears. Your on vacation, enjoy yourself! I've certainly noticed a LOT of strange things in the parks, but an adult wearing ears is not one of them.

OMG!!! I totally understand!! I started at 199 and am now 140-141 and feel like I still look like I weigh more. I feel like everyone sees me as my larger self! Idk if you were exaggerating by using 400, so if that's your starting weight, OH MY GOSH CONGRATS on losing so much!!!! That is amazing! Way to go!!

THANK YOU! :D
My actual starting weight was 375 pounds and right now I'm at 175, I actually had a little party to celebrate the 200 pounds mark last week! I still want to lose 40 pounds but those last few ones are always the hardest :(

But yeah, it's easy (not really) to lose the weight but it's extremely hard to change your self-image, I still struggle with it a lot but working on change that.

The chances of you seeing anyone from one of the parks ever again are slim to none. As others have said, it's YOUR vacation, do what you want wear the ears and ENJOY.

I know it's hard to deal with people staring, I deal with it daily because of my Special Needs Daughter. Some day's I get a bit snippy and tell people "Didn't your mother teach you it's not polite to stare and whisper" Other times I make sure Darling Daughter and I do something that we end up laughing about just to show others we don't care if they stare or not we are going to have fun.

Congrats! That is nothing short of remarkable and deserved a celebration!

You paid for your vacation. Not them. Spend it however the hell you like. Don't sweat the people who have nothing better to do than to stare down a couple having fun. Those types probably don't enjoy themselves anyway. If you can't act like a kid at Disney World then where on earth can you?
