Building up Gift Cards for my vacation by buying them at Target and

So I applied for the Red Card so I can get the 5% discount ... I am actually cashing out $1045 Discover card $$$s to buy $1100 in Disney Gift Cards ... problem is my local Target ONLY has $50 gift cards --- that would mean 22 cards. Is it just this particular store that only sells $50 cards or is that what all Target stores sell? And would it be possibly to say, go to the Disney Store and trade in two $50 cards for a $100 card???

All Target stores only carry the $25 (in some stores not all) and the $50 cards. So you would have to get the 22 cards but Disney is great about dealing with people that have large amounts of gift cards to pay for their balance etc. Some people buy them all at Target even for much larger amounts than yours and then call and pay with the large amounts of cards with no problem.
If it's just for spending money then you will just have to bring all the cards. You could just charge everything to your room (if staying on property) and then pay down your balance every day or few days with your gift cards instead of carrying numerous cards around every day.
And no you cannot trade in cards for other gift cards. That would be purchasing gift cards with gift cards and that's not allowed. They would have to have a record of doing that and that would mean they would have to show you purchased the cards with your cards and is not allowed. :)

BJs has $100 gift cards for $96. It's 4% off instead of 5% but still good.

I don't know if the OP has a Bj's around them but I know I don't have one around me. We have most stores but not that one. But if they do have one yes that is another option. Sam's has a 3 pack of $50 cards for like $142 but she is in the same boat because it's all $50 cards. Lol :joyfull:

BJs has the same pack but it's actually worse as a percentage discount than the $100 cards.

Yes, I know ... just renewed my membership there, but was trying to get the best deal x 1100 -- save $55 instead of $44!! However, I think if I charge $1100 on my Discover card, I'll make $10, so it equals out to just about the same saving!!:) Except I can walk to Target on my lunch hour and have to drive about 20 miles to BJs.

But then you don't get the 5% discount ... only if you use the Target Red Card. So it's either get the $50 cards at Target with a 5% discount or get the $100 cards with a 4% discount at BJs, charge it on Discover and earn more $$$... LOL

My local Target has $100 cards now, since April or so, maybe yours will get them soon. You can also get them online at target.com

If you do go the route of getting a bunch of $50s, you can combine them on disneygiftcard.com now if you want. That's nice if you have a bunch and want to bring them to the parks, that way you only have to keep track of one or two.

I just deposit all my Target Gift Cards into a Disney Vacation Account so that then I can get another 2% back for every 1000 I spend. This way every couple of weeks I just enter a few into the account and throw them away.

For our last big trip we bought about 80 gift cards from Sam's over the course of about 3-4 months. We just entered them on the disney payment site. It really does not take long to enter them in and its easier to sit with a laptop to enter them in while watching tv than it is to sit on the phone for all that time.
