As many others have said, a lot of Target stores have been getting the $100 gift cards and they are available online. I also recently found that on the disney gift card website you can transfer balances from one gift card to another, up to $1000 per card. So you could buy however many you needed and then transfer the balances onto one or two cards so when calling disney you don't have to read off as many card numbers. I'm hoping to rent DVC points through David's next year and they only allow up to 6 gift cards to pay off your dining plan so that's how I found out about it! So, if you are entering all of your cards to put the money all on to one card just to use that card to call in and make your payment, why wouldn't you skip the step and just enter them on the Disney web site and save a little time. The Disney payment website lets you enter as many cards as you want to pay for your trip, tickets, or meal plan. I can see consolidating if you are bringing a GC with you on vacation and only want to bring one but if its just to make a payment skip the step.
Yeah, if you were planning on doing it online it wouldn't make a difference! I personally prefer calling when I book through Disney directly and so consolidating gift cards makes the cast member's life a little easier. I'll be booking through David's DVC and they only allow 6 gift cards to pay off your dining plan and my dining plan for this trip will cost me ~$1000, so finding this helped me save a little more money, so I figured I'd share!
We also book our trips by calling Disney directly then we go online and pay with the gift cards. We figure the cast members must be commission based on some level or at least score carded on call length and how many trips they book so we also try not to make them spend a bunch of time entering cards.
We have never booked anything thing through a third party. It must be their rules so their operators don't get tied up on the phone. Thank you for the info.
