Building a Contemporary DVC

Disney can't be happy about the leaked info on the Contemporary DVC. How will they ever sell out AKL DVC if everyone knows about the contemporary. Everyone I have talked to so far is like, well I will just wait for contemporary.......makes no sense for the news to break so fast.

They're not happy. They got angry at the architect firm for posting the art on their site and made them pull it. Too late, of course....the cat be out of the bag.

They are simply refurbishing these rooms and the entire area.there will not be a DVC resort here. That blueprint of the new resort could have been made by anyone.

Why will they wait until AKLV sells out before announcing the Contemporary. It would be nice to have options. Right now, everyone buying into DVC from Disney has to buy in at SSR and it seems like not too many people really want to stay there. While I know a lot of people love AKL and love the idea of finally getting DVC there, I would much rather have it at the Contemporary. And I'd be pretty mad if I bought into DVC at AKLV and they announced Contemporary later and I found out that they had the plans for it all along. Know what I mean?

WOW this is all very interesting. not sure what to think..either renovations or demo. could be either. with the port-o-pots. could be there cause they are removing all the plumbing fixtures. doubt they would reuse them but who knows. they could be totally gutting the building from the inside..walls & all but the flooring. i am leaning towards the gutting the building besides floors & walls.

I just got back from WDW and while on a bass fishing trip on Bay lake the bass guide said that the rooms north of the contemporary were to be torn down to make room for another contemporary tower.

Uummmmmmm...and your basis for this?
And by basis I mean something stronger than the design firm's concept art and the official water permit documents for "DVC at the Comtemporary" construction area.

Appears to be true.

Stop the presses! The general perception of Contemporary DVC is undermined by these two simple sentences. Thanks bruiser for the clarification!

That blueprint is a helluva forgery!

They had the same documents for other resorts that never made it off the drawing boards.I know construction and thats refurbishment not a tear down.

Like which ones. I don't know of any resort that got as far as concept art and water permits for the construction offices and then never got built. I'd like to know what you're referring to.

As for the renovation vs. tear down. Yep...looks like renovation. That would mean that they scrapped the idea for the new tower that is in the art. Haven't heard that they did that...but it's possible...I guess.

I think DVC needs to watch out for the possibility of overexpansion. We all know what happens when you overexpand. Is the new building in the blueprint supposed to resemble a 'C' for Contemporary, or is it just coincidence?

The Thea I know is VERY nice, plesant person that's concerned with preserving the integrity of the resort. She's one of the main reasons we still have the Mary Blair murals intact.

Please ask her to turn the spot lights on for it then. :)

Oh, and speaking of lights, the light in table of the lobby-area (is that what it's called?) of the 10th floor is burnt out.

Weird that you should say that, because I've talked to her about that when the Atrium Club lounge opened. Since they haven't been working for close to 10 years (or longer) it's going to take checking of wiring and re-positioning. Maybe when work begins on the concourse.

Oh, and those accent tables are brand new pieces, and they haven't all been wired yet. You'll get an update when they are a-glow.

Could "DVC" in that document be an acronym for something other than Disneys Vacation Club?

North Garden Wing is going to be demolished. If it were going to be refurbished, it would've been done at the same time as the Tower and South Garden. You can't argue asbestos either because the north & south were built the same time as the tower, and with the same materials. Without talking to any of the BVCC guys, I'm assuming they're stripping the asbestos in the building so when it's demolished, none of it becomes airborne. There are guests around, you know....
