Okay so I stole this from the Magical Mountain forum but I wanted to see what you guys would say. If you could build a resort for disney(value, moderate, or deluxe) how would you theme it. I would like to have a Haunted Mansion type of resort. The CM's could dress in the uniforms from the ride. I think that would be great considering my fav ride is HM. The resort would also be a deluxe resort. And one of the suites could be Master Gracies Bedroom. What would you guys build:wave:

Neat idea, and you could really broaden this with the Tower of Terror scenes at the Elevator lobby, as well as other scary themes. You know how they have the different buildings at the Values. Similar to that idea.

I know it may be going out of style but I think a Castle resort would be cool for the yound Prince and Princesses out there, with carriage rides to rooms and all!

I like your Haunted Mansion hotel.

I would love the ToT to be a real hotel but I would also love to stay in the castle. I think ride themed deluxe hotels would be cool.

(WOW -- New2WDW posted the same time as me with the same idea's -- maybe disney should look into these hotels)

I think an Egyptian themed hotel would be very cool. The hotel could be shaped like a Sphinx and it could have all kinds of artifacts inside of it. I know that some people are going to shoot down this idea though because of the popularity of Universal's mummy movies. But they could even make the landscaping around the outside seem like you are in a desert.

What a great idea...

There could be one that had a "under the sea" theme with all of the little mermaid characters, and sea food restruants and lots of fish tanks throughout the resort. Having a King Trition theme suite and such. All tropical colors and such.

Or even one where they could theme it to follow fantasyland at the magic kingdom. Themed after all the classic fairy tales and stories...

All would defiantely be wonderful additions to the deluxe hotel list..

Gotta have the swim-in pool

I don't know what kind I've theme I would do, but I would DEFINATELY have one of those pools that you can get into right from your room patio. I guess it would go with a Finding Nemo type theme.

It would be too similar to Luxor over in Vegas, I guess..

Neat idea though..

I read somewhere once that the Tower of Terror WAS going to be part of a deluxe themed resort and it would actualy be part of the hotel (??) Maybe it was a JHM rumour..

Also Eisner wanted a Mickey shaped hotel! That is Mickey, stood up! The imagineers said it was impossible.

I always thought that Disney should have continued the story of Dixie Landings, Port Orleans and Pleasure Island to a third Resort, but with the re-naming of DL the Old Man Island story just died out.

I know that the Polynesian has a tropical feel but I thought that a resort near Typhoon Lagoon that was themed on that storyline would be awesome. The Lobby could be located in an old wrecked boat that sits on top of the resort you have to walk up ramps to get to it. The rooms would be huts that have no right angles they lean this way and that way, and the décor could continue the theme with the beds being made of broken boat parts. The main pool could be a mini sand bottom wave pool to tease guests about how cool TL is. Make it a moderate with a food court and have a nice restaurant too. Have a “shipwreck” play area that at night they could have a camp fire story where a cast member tells the tale of Typhoon Lagoon. Finally connect the resort to TL with a second gate that is in the resort, guest pay to get in and the take a lazy river to the park.

I've always like the Mediterannean hotel idea, so I would push that back into the picture. Have the canals as originally planned, that was one part that I thought was really cool. You could have parts like Venice, Rome, Greece, etc.., It could be a very nice resort tucked right in between the Contemporary and the T&TC as originally planned. Now the only problem is that unstable ground...:brick:

It would also be neat for each Resort to have it's own ride that only those who stay at the resort could ride it! Kinda like the Restaurants at Epcot

Disney's WinterSummerland Resort. Based off the Blizzard Beach area and minigolf course. The main resort would be a ski-lodge with all details relating to surf and sun (cut outs in window shutters, palm trees with lights, etc.). The main attraction will be a large indoor skating rink that will also serve as a dinner show at night. Like MK, this will actually be set one story up from ground level. The skating rink will overlook the pool area. It actually will jut out slightly from rocks below it where melting "ice" will cascade into the pool area below. Around the pool sit the "Cabins" and "Cabanas" (both appropriately themed on either side). These are smaller buildings that house four suites each. Similar to WS, they surround the large pool area which features a rocky "slopes" and diving area on the cabins side and a large beach on the cabana side. There are also two rings of cabins/cabanas behind the main group that surround a themed quiet pool (one with palm trees and the other set in a pine forest). Dining includes dinner with the rotating ice show (the WinterSummer show), Degrees - a table service restaurant focusing on trendy items in a menu that rotates with the change from winter to summer. The decor in the restaurant also changes (prjection technology and robotics) between ski and snow scenes and pine trees to artistic palm trees and beach scenes. The specialties will often include combinations of warm and cold dishes (temperature or spice). There is a quick stop stand called Flurries, focusing on snacks especially of the frozen variety, themed toward a giant igloo (although not as cold), and Shades provides sundries and shopping (looks like a series of boardwalk store fronts). The Solstice Room which sits right between the cabins and cabanas provides a casual counter service eatery. Similar to Seasons at The Land, it focuses on seasonal items to the winter and summer (although both are available all year round).

I've always wanted the cinderella's castle theme.

However, were I in charge, I'd take it a step further. I'd take the old westcot idea and put the hotels inside the resorts. Imagine how grand it would be to step out of your hotel and be inside the resort. I'm not sure how feasible it would be, but it would be fun.

i think a RnRC themed hotel.the rooms could have records n stuff on the walls, the really expensive rooms could be themed to look like vip lounges.the CMs could all be dressed in stage hand type attire and they could play rock music all day thoughout the hotel.oh and they could have a live venue hall for real live bands to play like once a week.

i also like the HM and ToT style ones too

Haunted mansion/TOT hotel. This has been brought up many many times on this forum and i think it would be a huge success.

I like that desert idea...they could tie it into an Aladdin theme. Could turn into a quite beautiful resort and very unique. Instead of the Sphinx have that tiger head (i forgot the name of it).

I would love to see a Nightmare Before Christmas theme.
Or mix all of the ideas from above (Nightmare, TOT, Haunted Mansion).

Sort of like the MNSHP, but for a hotel.

Blue.

I actually never even thought about tying it into Aladdin, that is a great idea. Instead of a sphinx the resort could be a genie bottle similar to the movie. That would really be cool and different.

I like your Under Sea idea. I've always thought it would be great to have a large cylindrical aquarium with rooms all the way around it, with windows looking into it.

Americana and Aviation Value Resorts

Americana Resort:
Colonial themed building:, tri-corner hats and all that. Ben Franklin,Washington, Jefferson, Adams, more ideas?
Big pool here- Giant tricornered hat, where each corner opening is a slide.
Same costumes as Liberty Square.

American Hero legend building: Pecos Bill, Johnny Appleseed,Paul's Bunions:hurl:
More ideas needed.
But "America" themed, like Liberty Square.
Donkey and Elephant Buildings....ok, admittedly bad idea there.

My favorite...
Perhaps an Aviation Themed Hotel? Blimps, Balloon, Helicopter,Glider, Airplanes, Space? Lawnchairs w/ wings(oops. I mean Ultralights)?
Kind of like the decades of the Pop Century.
We've got 100 years of flight history. That's big stuff.
Celebrating the likes of Wright Bros, Hughes, Yeager, etc.
Easy to make pools, oversize (or not) statues, etc. in those shapes.
Also easy to get old airplanes from aviation graveyards and spruce up nicely. They don't need to be airworthy.
Castmembers dressed as pilots, mechanics, attendants?
Even have play actor castmembers wandering the grounds "My luggage went where!?"

Little bags of salted nuts on every pillow.
The value resort rooms are like "coach" as far as size, so it's not too far a stretch.
