Bringing a DL Castmember

Hey,

We're trying to talk my cousin who is a Disneyland castmember into joining us next year. Apparently she can get in with 3 guest each day which would save us a bundle.

Has anybody ever gone with a castmember before. Apparently the tickets have to be processed at a park's guest relations. Anybody know if it could also be processed at the hotel front desk (in the case that we want to start out at different parks)?

Or any other comments or knowledge to share?

I could be wrong but when I was with WDW our Main Gate (which is what your friend has) did not have to processed by Guest Relations. The currently employed cast member does have to be present with you as you go through the turnstyles and then you are given a separate ticket so that you can park hop. Cast Member will need her company Id and main gate for entrance of themself and the other party members.

Unfortunately you cannot do this at your resort as it has to go through the ticketing system at the park itself.

Hopefully this is still correct, atleast this is the way it was handles as of 2004, and that was even as a WDW cast member going to DL and DLP

Yes, everything Plutoboy said is still correct.

I'm confused...maybe I had a different ticket??? But my friend Beth had 4 one-day-park-hoppers that she could give away to fam and friends. She gave my friends and I those four, and we used them just like regular tickets. She didn't have to be with us at all. Am I thinking of a different kind of ticket? ;)

Some of you are talking about Cast "comp" tickets (complimentary tickets) given to DL cast to use at WDW. These need to be exchanged at any ticket window at any park or can be done at Guest relations (outside the park) to get an actual ticket that scans through the ticketing machines. The comp tickets are usually just vouchers with some sort of themed picture on them and an expiration date on the back.
EDIT: "Comp" tickets are the only tickets cast members can "give away" to family and friends without being present at the gates to enter the park.

What the DL castmember will use is their main gate if they don't have "comp" passes. The "main gate" which is the ticket that the DL Cast member has that allows them to bring in guests to the park is a plastic card that is scanned so the ticketing system will issue up to 3 guest tickets. This has to be done with the cast member present as others noted, therefore you cannot start at different parks. (However I've seen many cast members just bring their guests into the park, hang in there for a little while and leave their party shortly after if they decide to go to another park. At that point, each guest of the cast member already has their own ticket and my enter and exit parks without needing to be with the cast member for the rest of the day.)

Unless the "main gate" at DL is drastically different than the one for WDW cast members, your group just needs to enter at the Cast Member entrance which is designated over the turnstiles. (In April, it was the far left turnstile at MK and Epcot, and far right one at MGM and AK.)

If you're worried, contact guest relations before you go!

When we went to DL, we just went though the regular turnstyles, and then they got us our passes. Not sure how the reverse goes however. Try the Cast Portal.

I have one comment. Or rather a question. You have the opportunity to get into WDW...for free...and you want the option of starting out at different parks? Dude, it's free! Unless they expect you to give them a kidney or something at the end of your stay, just be glad you're getting in for free, and follow your CM friend around from park to park like a puppy dog on an invisible leash! :p

Ever known one of those people who like to sleep in really late, not always on time... yeah. What can I say, if I'm there to party, then by God, I'm going party. Plus she and her sister might want to do 2 days of Universal, me not so much. I'm a Disney kinda guy.

I went to Disney World last year with my fiance who worked at Disneyland. He DID have to take his main gate pass and CM ID to guest relations outside the park and they typed information in their computer then gave us our parkhopper pass for the day. We had to do that each day. As far as I can remember, we were told we had to go to the park's guest relations, but I could be wrong on that one since we were staying together anyway. :)

The process for entry has changed. I visit WDW each year and am a DL CM. A few years ago, the case was simply walk up to the gate, hand your ID and Main Gate pass to the taker, they give you a re-ad with parkhopping capabilities.

Then about a year ago (January 2005) my friends and I went together. This time, however, we had to go to Guest Relations each day, hand them our Main Gate and ID, wait a few minutes while they processed our passes, and then we got our parkhopper.

This last February, however, it was back to the first way- Give ID and Main Gate to ticket taker, they process it, but this time they were having us sign the back of our pass. While they watched. A little odd, but understandable.

And that is how things have changed.
