Jiminy is in the Parade of Dreams and Genie has been out at Disneyland.
Also Smee is looking good, he just hasn't been out yet as his new self.

Actually I saw the new Genie at MGM at least 3 months ago..probablly when he was first brought out. Then I went over to MK like 2 weeks later, and they were back to the old one. Easy way to tell which is new and old..is old one Genie's mouth is shut, new is mouth is open and smiling.

Any pics of this new "smiling" Genie??? Also why does Jiminy need a retouch?? I think he looked fine the way he was.

how odd you should ask about those two characters...almost sounds like a set-up...
keep an eye out at WDW for those 2 (Jimminy and Genie).
Trust me.

*T

You mean the new versions of Genie and Jiminy are going to start appearing at the WDW parks soon...or are they already coming out?

And according to SirHiss's post, it seems that the new Genie is now appearing at MGM, but the MK is still using the old Genie. Will the new Genie be coming to the MK and/or Epcot soon?

Just an interesting observation... when they first pulled Br'er Fox, there was speculation that perhaps it was the teeth that had a lot to do with it... scaring children and all... Well now we can see for sure that that's not the case. :D

I personally love the new Br'er Fox!

Just thought I'd put the images that were linked to earlier in the thread next to each other.

The old one:

The new one:

The new Fox looks a lot better to me.

I have a friend who works in Disney as characters and he use to "work" as Br'er Fox. He always complained about the tail. I guess little children use to pull at it and acouple of times it would rip. I am surprised to see be the new picture of him that the tail isn't very different. Some kids use to be scared of the teeth so he too thought that is why they might of pulled it the character. I like the new one too!!

Actually, the tail IS different with the new Brer Fox.

It hangs down, rather than stand up like with the previous versions.

The tail issue appears to be one reason why they redesigned Tigger and Robin Hood in the mid/late 1990s, even though Tigger still comes out with his tail standing up sometimes.

I'm not surprised about the tail, every character w/ a tail i'm sure has had it pulled or yanked. When I was working with Robin Hood one morning, some little girl thought she would be funny and while he was signing her book, she yanked his tail and it ripped about 95% off, lemme tell you how dumb she looked when Robin Hood walked off set and everyone waiting in line lost out on seeing him.

Her parents were pretty embarassed too...

Anyway, I like the new Br'er Fox, he looks good! I like the smile hehe :) But i'm sure people will still be like, "Look it's Robin Hood!" or something.

Does anyone have pictures to compare the old and new Genie? Also did anyone see Dumbo out at the 50th launch in Disneyland? Looked really cool!

Getting back on topic, I must agree that the new Brer Fox is a big improvement over the old one. He also looks happier and friendlier than the previous version.

But I have easily noticed the similarities to the old one, mostly in the case of his clothes.

I sure hope to see him at the Magic Kingdom if/when I go there this week, so I can be able to get a picture with him.

That would be great to have new chartoons with the sots characters. Most little kids in the US only know the characters from SM anyway (considering SOTS never being relesed in the US). Its weird that Disney didn't do it already, after all Disney has been pretty sertin lately that they love there sequels.

New Genie should be out sometime soon. He was in Spectro not too long ago, but they are now back to the old one.

The new Jiminy Cricket costume is the same as Disneyland and has been making appearances in the Glade by Liberty Tree Tavern.
