I have posted this story here before, but I will cut and paste.

I will relay - what is in my opinon - the best Brazillan tour group story ever.

During the middle of the day I was on the bus from I believe AK, back to SSR. Well that bus makes a stop at Blizzard beach. On this bus was myself, the driver, and one other guy.

Well it had just started to rain when we got to BB. A whole troop of young Brazillian girls had decided to leave, and their proctors wanted them all to stay together, so they all jammed onto our bus. It was PACKED solid with young Brazillian girls, most of whom were in bikinis.

They got off the bus first, and the driver has this huge grin on his face. The other guy in the bus just looks at me and says "they aught to make that a regular ride, and charge extra"

I better not show my husband this story..or he will move our holiday :ROFLOL:

That would also work for the police. Since you placed your hand on someone and caused distress it's called assult. I bet they'll start speaking crystal clear english when the police show up. :)

Yeah, when you start talking about placing your hands on anyone, that's definitely asking for trouble!! The whole possible police matter aside, you just never know what the other person is going to do back, either.

If you see any possible line cutters coming, spread out your body, spread out your party and protect your kiddos (from any possible shoving). And I have seen CMs take care of line cutters. Last year, a few guys from somewhere (not Brazil, though!) got in front of us in the FP line at Peter Pan. They had FPs, but they bypassed the initial CM who checks them while we were showing ours. And yes, they knew what they were doing! I showed them to the CMs, and he went and pulled them out of line and stuck them behind every single other person who had showed up in the meantime. It put them back about 20 people.

At the same time, I've NEVER seen a CM enforce the no flash photog rule, even when 10 people pointed out an offender on POTC. The CM said there was nothing that could be done. So, maybe that's not a rule, just technically a request?

It's got very little to do with them being Brazillian, it's what happens when a group of teenagers get together regardless of nationality.

Happens in the UK at Alton Towers, Thorpe Park, etc. when schools take trips.

I agree. Of course, there are always exceptions to the rule - there are some great teens out there! - but I think it comes with any group of teens, away from their parents, underchaparoned, excited, etc. And then add on the cultural differences equation, and then you have, well, the complaints about the Brazilian tour groups.

I'm not excusing the behavior at all. I think it's deplorable. But Americans also have the Ugly American stereotype abroad.

Disney DOES need to enforce the rules (like line cutting) evenly and consistantly. I also wonder what kind -if any- rules are there for tour groups coming to Disney. Does Disney require a certain number of chaparones per teens when groups book? That doesn't guarantee good behavior, but perhaps it would take care of some of the issues, especially at the resorts. I know it could be a can of worms, but they've got to take care of ALL their guests.

I was with a group of close to 80 teens in various parts of Europe last year. The only time I recall there being any rowdiness amongst us was at the Hofbrauhaus in Munich, where such behavior was encouraged, and during the stumble back to the hotel later that night....

There was also a small exhibition of excitement our first night there in the hotel but for the most part, behavior was excellent.

You obviously were a member of a group that was the exception to the rule. In my younger days I went on a trip to a local theme park and acted like that. As a teenager with your peers, you get swept away with excitement and you are only interested in looking out for yourself. We weren't 'chaperoned' by an adult so there was no one to stop us. Looking back it makes me cringe, but everyone was the same and I wasn't going to be the exception.

It's the same reason university students get a bad name in many towns. First time young people are away from parental guidance and can do what they like, when they like - and invariably, they will, to the annoyance of others.

This is such a sad thread because you book your trip, spend months planning and looking forward to this marvelous vacation....enter ANY under-supervised group of youngsters. Try as you might to not let anyone, let alone a hyper tour group, ruin your time but everyone has their breaking point. These tour groups seem to affect even those with the patience of a Saint. There has to been some kind of happy medium between where we are with this problem and where we'd like to be. Obviously, the line jumping, late night partying and running over of the guests could be more monitored than say the chanting (unless affecting a show or attraction). I would like to see the chaperones given a more strict set of guidelines for large groups and held more responsible for their groups.

UGH! I'm SO glad someone brought this up. We just got back on Saturday and I guess we're lucky because this is the first time we've encountered them but I really have to say that they had a significant impact on our trip. Other than the fact that it messes with queue times (a GINORMOUS group returned LATE for their fastpasses at test track AFTER EMH started so the fastpass line was all of the way out of the ride area.) The constant chanting and inconsideration is at times unbearable. When seated for Fantasmic they took up the entire 2 outer sections of the stadium. The chanting and the wave made it imposible to enjoy the pre-show music and not only were the leaders not trying to help, they were egging them on. I agree that with the money they generate, Disney is highly unlikely to do anything about it but I have to say that if this continues to be a problem, we will be looking for someowhere else to have our July vacation. Since DH is a teacher, we really don't have an alternate time we can go. I do, however have a suggestion on where they can put those flags.....

Is it really that bad? I have never encountered this type of behavior down in Disney. I mean is it really just people from Brazil or a group or largely rude people that get on your nerves or is there no difference?

It can be and be thankful you haven't seen the behavior. Makes no difference really if they are Brazil or not...we would just like tour groups to follow simple rules of etiquette. CMs enforcing the rules more consistently would be Magical too.

I generally get annoyed when Frat houses come to WDW expecting thrill rides and they complain loudly about the rides (like SSE). Its really rude and irritating because they have to shout everything...
