Exactly.

Save Australia and Antarctica for Animal Kingdom. Bring Spain, Brazil, India, Russia, whatever etc. to World Showcase.
I think in this order of countries that should be added are
A South American Country Brazil or Colombia or Argentina
Another European Country Spain or Greece or Switzerland
Another Asian Country Thailand or India

I'm hesitant to say they will add a Middle Eastern country as the region is very unstable, and even in the more stable countries like the UAE, I don't think it would mesh that well with World Showcase. Russia is also another no, and I really do think Australia would lend itself far better to Animal Kingdom.

Now, those are honestly what I think are the best three options in that order. Now, could Saudia Arabia want to fund a pavilion? Of course, but it is extremely unlikely. New Zealand would be great too, but I don't see that happening either. Just my 2 cents, but seeing discussion for over a year now it seems that these are the top 3 countries. I would honestly though expect in a realistic scenario that India would pull over Thailand, but I think Thailand would still be the better choice.

Ideas never die at Disney, I'm sure they'll take another crack at it eventually.
As much as I wanted it to happen, I want to applaud Disney to be patient and not do it until they have a very good story. That's the number 1 thing a movie should try to do: be as good as possible.

Many times it just doesn't work out that way, and even if a movie that is bad makes a ton of money, it negatively impacts how successful it could have been if it was good. With good to incredible films, the sky is the limit in terms of how much it can make. Disney has always been known for their high-quality animated films, (minus post-renaissance). I applaud them for trying to make the best product they can at the time. Hopefully, it will be back on the table within the decade and a better script, but even with the absurd amount of sequels Disney makes, it still seems that they do care about their product.

From a standpoint of culture, food, architecture, etc I would go in this order not worrying about which areas of the world are represented and setting politics aside: 1. Greece 2. India 3. Russia 4. Australia
While Australia could be slipped into Animal Kingdom Its not really a celebration of a culture. Its about the scenery and animals. I would be ok with that but then why not put India there as well?

I just don't see how Brazil really fits. If you google image Brazilian Architecture you get a bunch of pics of modern concrete buildings. You also get lots of images of the shanty town looking areas. If you google their historic architecture you have some good images showing up but it just doesnt seem anywhere near as distinct (which all of the other pavilions are). If you do this with Spain the images and architecture, in my opinion, are in a completely different league and seem like they would be much more interesting to have in Epcot.

I also can't understand the idea behind them making a pavilion because "Disney World has lots of Brazilians that visit". You know the last place I would eat or go to when visiting another country, an American themed area or restaurant...

Disney mostly manages to pull these things off though so if it is Brazil i'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

They could go in a few different directions. More iconic structures:

Or perhaps a colonial inspired:

I think either would work.

There’s more to a country’s culture than what google images show you

Interesting point. However, unfortunately the first order of business is to create a visually distinct and attractive pavilion to draw guests of the park into the area. Much of Brazils iconography features religious symbols like the enormous Jesus statue, various large crosses, etc. I can imagine that Disney will opt out of displaying these meaning one of the most iconic visuals in Brazil won't be on display. Not quite as bad as doing France and not featuring the Eiffel Tower, but close.

As for other cultural things they can feature, maybe the pavilion will just be 11 hour long Carnival parade that goes in a circle in an empty courtyard in front of the restaurants. Futbol is huge there, but again, how do you visually represent this? Do a giant soccer ball?

My point is that nearly every other pavilion option that has been mentioned would be much more visually distinct and interesting to look at, again, in my opinion.

First, that concept art's origins, as far as I know, are unknown outside of the person who posted it on this forum about 3 years ago. Second, again, I just can't possibly see Disney doing Christ the Redeemer which is a hugely iconic structure for Brazil. Third, I do like that art, IF it is real and IF they do something like that I am totally on board. But do you all REALLY think Disney is going to build and install a giant statue of Jesus in Epcot??? I personally would have no issue at all with it, but I just don't see it happening.
