Brainstorming For Team A's (stichcastles) Team

I quite like the overhang idea, since it will, as curcusole said, draw crowds on a hot day and break up the flow a little.

Im thinking we make the base a little overgrown, perhaps a beat up old car (Lancia Beta Couple with no doors or bonnet - if anyone is British they should get that), perhaps a rusty drum or two.

As far as posts go, I like three, odd numbers work well for things like that. I'm thinking reds and mabie some blues for the sign, with big, bold bright lettering, perhaps saying "Welcome to Harambe" with some kind of slogan?

So will this billboard have benches beneath it for people to sit on, or will they just sit on the canisters and the car.

As for the colors, how about a red/brown background with bold dark yellow lettering and gray supports?

Guys, I looked at an AK map, and saw that the perfect place for the billboard is right in between the two bridges (see map for reference) leading from Discovery Island and Asia. I'm thinking that (going along with my idea, see previous posts) the billboard will be double sided, with the same wording, but different pictures. That or the side of the billboard pointed towards Asia could say: "Thank you for visiting Harambe! (Asante kwa kutembelea!)"

Do you guys think that it would flow well, or not?

Also, if I'm correct, the exact location where I suggested is right next to Tawu Tawu refreshments, where a Kodak Photo Spot currently is.

Also, I basically gathered all the information everyone has input and compiled it into a few sentences, we can compare this to Tiki's write up and then use whoever's is better:

Salamu kutoka Harambe! Greetings from Harambe, the safari capital of the world. But, unfortunately for this little town, business has been slow ever since the Yeti moved in next door. So, in a grand attempt to attract more visitors to their town, all the citizens of Harambe pitched in to erect a billboard that can be seen from all over. Designed as a colorful postcard, this billboard is not only visually appealing, but it also provides a nice, shady spot (provided by a grass thatched overhang) to sit under during those dreadfully hot African days. The addition of some "wear and tear from the elements", as well as a busted-up car and rusty oil drums, give it that "quaint" feeling. This billboard offers a figurative, yet personal handshake to every guest who enters the limits of Harambe. So, if the wild adventures that are to be had on the safaris aren't enough to convice you to ditch the dinos and head on down to Harambe, take a quick look at this billboard!

How's about that?

If everyone likes my ideas, then all we probably have left are the visuals. I would do them (I'm kind of on a roll right now, I don't know what's going on) but I'm a terrible artist.

I keep thinking of new things after I post my ideas!

So, I just thought about something: lighting. I know since AK closes so early this might not be a problem, but you never know. Also, I think, at nighttime, if the billboard is lit up, then it will look awesome. So I'm thinking that we could place some lights (disguised as rocks) beneath the board and it will be lit up, kind of like a real billboard.

There are just ideas that keep rushing to my head! And I know it's funny because it's like I'm talking to myself because I've posted like the last 10 times.

But BACKGROUND MUSIC! I'm thinking that the radio in the car could play African tribal music, or something similar.

I need to chill out or something....

OK.... LAST POST I PROMISE. I know, I'm posting all these ideas and then everyone's gonna come in and think they're terrible.

Could this billboard be a character meet-n-greet? It seems unreasonable, because CMM is right next door, but I just think it will attract more guests. Maybe, instead of meeting Disney characters, you could meet all new characters like "The Mayor of Harambe" or the "Expert Safari Guy." I just think that'd be really cool.
I really hope I'm done.

Wow! Saying that you're on a roll is an understatement!! I love all those ideas, and the way you made them fit together! I would also offer to do the drawings, but I too am a terrible artist, and besides that, I have a ton of homework. :hurl: Sorry, but I'm not sure that I'm gonna be able to make it back here before the project is due, except for really late tonight, and just before it's due tomorrow. I hope to be able to check in more often, but I'm not sure I'll make it. :(

Thanks for the compliments circusole'! I'm really trying here.

That's too bad, but I'm sure the whole team will understand, school is more important.

I'll do the write up tomorrow. That's when the project's due, right? Could someone do me a big favor and post a list of basically all the cumulative ideas?

nice work figmntal!

A few thoughts/questions:

Is your placement at the bottom right corner of Africa?

I'd prefer to stay away from the meet and greet. I think it would take away from the storyline that's been created.

As for the drawings, I'll let a few others chime in and then will adjust accordingly. We're going with an overhang at the top, right? Also, what's the verdict on the message?

I'll let everyone know now though I do not have the resources or time to create a colored image. Our scanner at work doesn't scan in color. We'll have to describe the colors in our write-up. Unless someone else wants to work on it.

Bottom right corner--- yes.

Take away? How?

Yes, thatched overhang at the top. As a know, people seemed to like Greetings from Harambe, so we should go with that.

Stitchcastle said he'd do the visuals.

I kinda already did a mini-write up on page 6, if you wanna look at that, or even if you want to use it so you don't have to do anything!

In my head I was thinking of what Tiki mentioned before; the billboard from afar draws you in and as you get closer you see the struggle of man vs. nature. I think a meet and greet makes that area to 'warm' and takes away from the struggle a bit. Just my two cents.

Cool - I think that's the perfect location.

Gotcha, I guess I missed StitchCastle doing the visuals.

I see what you mean. I didn't catch the man vs. nature aspect.

Thanks. It's strategically placed, and I didn't notice: what's better than enjoying a beverage from the nearby refreshment stand under a shady overhang, listening to some calming tribal music. Maybe we can even have misters! No.

In the beginning he said he'd do the final visuals. Have you seen some of Stitchcastle's visuals? They're amazing!

One more thing I just thought of:

We'll probably need some supports that go a diagonal from the ground to the back of the Board. I'm not sure if it could realistically be supported by only 3 vertical poles. If that's the case, I'm not sure we could have a "thanks for visiting" on the back... an idea I defintely like, but I don't know if it's feasible.

The music and a cool spot is great!

I think it could be supported. But yeah, the "thanks for visiting" wasn't actually part of it, just thought I'd throw it out there.

Thanks!

Sorry i am in and out...im about to graduate and like i said earlier and so did someone else school is taking up ALL of my time(hence why i am on here at 1:30 in the am). With this billboard is it by far an amazing idea but is it going to look brand new or run down. and what years would this billboard be coming from because that will definitely go into how it will look

I missed that too. Not trying to stir anything up but I don't remember saying anything about doing the visuals. I also can't do them on this short notice as I have my hands full with work the next couple of days.
