Borrowing/Using Points

We are planing on taking 2 trips to DW later this year... One in Sept and one in Oct. We have made our reservations, but are starting to have 2nd thoughts and trying to figure out what we want to do. We have 2 nights confirmed at BLT in Oct(20 and 21)for a 1 br unit, using 56 points, and we have another reservation in Sept for 5 nights at the OKW resort for a 1 br which we had to borrow 8 points from next year for. Now my question is. If we decide to cancel the OKW and book somewhere that will use less points...will they use the borrowed points first for the new reservation and let me bank whatever is left, or will the borrowed points be used last and I end up losing them? I know they cant be returned to the next use year, which is fine...I just dont want to lose them, and DW has let me know she doesn't want to stay at OKW either. :fork::eek: Any help or ideas would be appreciated!!

first of all, welcome to the boards. you're best off talking to an actual agent - hey, it's a toll-free call, go nuts. But I suspect, if you change your reservations without actually canceling that September trip, then they're going to use the borrowed points first, then use whatever you currently have left in your current use year, and then, if anything is left from your current use year after that, they'll be banked (assuming it's not too late in your use year to bank those points).

I will also say this, if you're talking about staying somewhere else that uses less points...if you plan to remain in a 1BR unit, I THINK your only options would be a standard view at Boardwalk, or a Value or Standard unit (non-Savannah view) at Animal Kingdom Lodge. They're popular resorts, so there's no guarantee you'd get what you want anyway. At that point, if you still plan a 5-night stay, you'd have to either opt for a studio if you want to lose less points, OR borrow even more points to stay somewhere else.

So, as I wrote earlier, your best bet is to talk to an actual DVC rep, see what they may be able to do for you, AND see if what you want is even available.
