Pre-Trip Booked yesterday - only 33 days to wait

Hi there

I had to do my first pre trip just to share the news that I am going to Disney and as the title suggests I have to wait just 33 days!

The countdown that was at 274 days is still there but this one has jumped in front!

So how did this happen? Good question!

So my news years resolution was to go for a walk during my lunch hour for any days I worked at home - I never take a lunch hour so this in itself would be a challenge and I’m still trying to get rid of the weight I gain while in Disney in November so walking seemed a good option to clear my head and get some exercise.

So I asked Chris if he fancied a walk and yes he did so off we go..........

The holiday year at work starts on 1st April and runs to the end of March and I still had days to take but where to go?

So the conversation goes

Chris (will be C for future parts of the conversation) - so what do you fancy doing?
Me “I don’t really want to get on a plane I’ll be happy with a log cabin near a forest so we can do some walks”
C - “I fancy some sun”
Me “so what are your thought?”
C - “Mexico, Caribbean, Canaries”
Me- “we’ll lets see how much they are but that’s getting in a plane and I fancy just getting in a car and going somewhere”
C - “we could always go to Disney!”

Well right there and then I knew why I had married this man! His love of Disney has grown over the years - he’ll never be at my level but trust me he is getting there! Had he really just suggested WDW?

With a massive grin on my face I looked back at him and said

“We only went in November, we’re already booked for Nov 2018 I think it will be too expensive - are you serious? I didn’t wait for the reply - I tell you after that conversation the whole walk sped up so we could get home and check out prices.

Once home prices were checked - nothing seemed reasonable, Mexico was checked along with loads of other things

A day or 2 went by nothing sorted, no decision made, still discussing options - Then one night I was watching TV and a voice out of the study says

“How about Disney for £1400 each

My reply - do we have to walk there? What does that include? Bet those flights aren’t direct.

C- “hotel, direct flight and park tickets - it’s not Riverside though - is All star sports

- those of you who have read my TR in the last will know I’ve been to Disney 21 times (all Nov trips except in May 1998) and always at Riverside but this would mean I could go to Disney again albeit not in my beloved Riverside.

I did hesitate at this point and I turned to my WDW friends and posted in the trip planning forum around crowd levels for March and they told me what I already knew - that I wanted to go! Bite the bullet, ignore the crowds, better a busy day in Disney than anywhere else!
Did I need them to tell me. Probably not but as we couldn’t make the decision I knew my friends would - thank you. :)

So fast forward to last night - checked the price again - moved it forward a week and the price was cheaper - so booked it :D
total £2620 for a direct flight with Virgin, 14 day lark ticket and 10 night in All Star Sports. RESULT :D

November we have 14 nights hotel and park tickets at POR for £3458 and I don’t have a flight yet! Which will probably add another £1000

i am treating this whole trip as a bonus - we haven’t got our ticket reference number yet to do any fast passes so let’s see what happens - I’m hoping as we’re 33 days out at least the offsite guests won’t have booked anything yet

I can’t believe that I am going again - is this a dream?
In just 33 days I’ll be back home! We leave on 12th March!

You just got to love this man!
He is my Prince Charming

I had 2 things that I’d like to see and do in Disney

One was flower and garden - I love gardening and can’t wait to see everything
And the second is a not so scary Halloween party -

So if any of you have any tips for March, things to do, weather then please let me know

I am literally beyond excited and had to share with those who’ll understand.

Random trips are the best! Have you thought about getting an Annual Pass? if you are doing 14 days now and then traveling again in November, it is defiantly worth is plus you get discounts throughout the parks!

We thought about that but as our Nov trip is a package 7 days for 14 Disney ticket with free food and $200 we didn’t want to change the booking (as I think we’ll lose the added benefits). and we did a quick calculation and I don’t think for the tickets we’ve spent too much more anyway but having only had the luxury of an annual trip I don’t know a lot about AP’s - maybe we should just ask while we’re there?

I think I’d be dangerous with an AP though, although flights aren’t that cheap from the UK - think we just got lucky with this trip!

Update - Just realised for those of you who don’t know me I didn’t introduce myself I was too excited to share my news!

I am Tracey - Disney mad! - As you can tell from how much I must spend on Disney with these trips - maybe I should find a new interest that’s cheaper...............

I would say I’m a bit obsessed.... I check the Disney news every day, refer to Disney at least once a day in a saying or phrase.
Dream about Disney, get joy out of sharing Disney with others and planning their trips - everyone at work comes to me and tags me on everything Disney on face book - sometimes I feel so predictable but I just don’t care.
Get me on the subject of Disney I won’t stop.

This love of Disney started when sat with my cousins son watching the little mermaid - I watched with him and was hooked - the rest is history.

I once had someone come into my house to deliver a mattress, as he left he said to me “do you like Disney?” Obviously I said yes but could not work out how he would come to that conclusion as he only went through the hall up the stairs and into the bedroom which only has the 7 dwarfs on the windowsill.

I asked him why he said that and he said he had seen in my lounge as he had gone up the stairs

I let him out and glanced in the lounge - ok I see why he would say that.
Proof below!

Those pewter train pieces on the bottom shelf were from our first trip and are very special - along with the goofy birthday which is limited edition to 500 I think.
The Jim shore hitchhiking ghosts is one you can’t buy anymore as mine lights up - the version they sell now is non lighting - I remember where I was when all these items were purchased.

I’ll spare you all the other rooms - there isn’t as much in them but everywhere has a bit of Disney and some more than others!

And there are so many pins I’ve lost count.

And as I said at the start I have an amazing husband who puts up with but like I tell him I am one of a kind and he would have a miserable marriage if I wasn’t like this!

Anyhow I am still waiting for my Disney park ticket confirmation to get these FP booked........ urghhhhhh

On a side note does anyone know how long baseball games last - looks like there might be something on at world wide sports in March so wondering whether to take a look?

I'm so excited for you!! I've booked last minute trips twice & it is really hard to sink in that you're actually going. Such a neat feeling though!! Looking forward to your trip report!!
Baseball games tend to go 2 1/2 to 3 hours unless they go into extra innings. I assume there is spring training going on then.
Do you plan on paying a visit to your "true home" while you're there?

Just customised our magic bands!

Only just made it before I would have to have gray - so chuffed as I lost my purple band last year I think at the airport! Security made me take it off and I think maybe it felll somewhere - I have been so disappointed since I got home but now I need worry no more!

I'm so excited for you!!! I love Jim Shore figurines! I have the Mickey & Minnie on a bench in my living room :)

I find it hard to find any nice things in Disney any more but I do like some of the Jim Shore bits.
Some of them are proving quite special I recently saw Ursula sell on eBay for over £300

See what I mean it’s an expensive addiction.

 OMG Tracey! A 33 day countdown is unbelievably exciting! Way to go Chris on finding such an amazing deal for the two of you! Happy you get to see Flower and Garden (on my Disney bucket list) and get another purple MagicBand! I will be following along for sure! I am hoping that one day we will both be at Disney at the same time so we can finally meet in person!
Loved looking at your collection of Disney memorabilia! Of course I am a huge Beauty and the Beast fan so I loved all those pieces. My husband adores Goofy so I loved all those pieces as well!
Looking forward to hearing all about your FP choices and other plans!!!

I will be there!!! I have a conference at the Hilton Bonnet Creek (next to CBR) from March 17 - 21st. After the conference, my wife is flying down on the 21st and we are staying at the Wilderness Lodge from March 21 - 26. I'm going to try to get to the parks as much as I can during the conference. I will keep an eye out for you, particularly at BTMRR and any place they sell ice cream!! :)

So happy for you, Tracey! Sorry we will just be missing you this time!
Like you, I have always wanted to do the Flower and Garden show at Epcot, and can't wait to get there and see everything. I think there is a butterfly house somewhere, so will try to find that.
I absolutely love all your Disney figurines! WOW. I thought I had a big collection of crystal from Arribas brothers. I buy a piece of crystal each trip, which started on our first ever trip with a crystal unicorn with gold trimmings.
In answer to your question about Robin, I don't think they've finalized their fall plans yet, so I will let you know. What are your fall Dates?
If we could get the benefits you get to go to Disney, I wouldn't rock the boat and change to AP either. So glad you get those great deals.
I wonder if you have considered DVC? will catch you later.

I’m actually pretty chilled about this trip ,aube doing last minute as a bonus trip will show me Disney in a whole new light.

Can’t wait to see all the flowers and play with the camera again.

Wilderness resort is beautiful if I wasn’t so into POR that is where I would like to stay.
Maybe we’ll bump into each other. Have fun

I want to find the butterfly house too

So glad you got my email - our fall days are 7th Nov for 14 nights although we haven’t booked flights yet so if something is cheaper we might extend as we did last year - we’ll just have to see.
Enjoy your trip

Wow! Lovely decision to make and what a wonderful Prince Charming. I haven't stayed at AS Sports but have been to AS Movies before and had a good time without the meal plan (before they were introduced) and woukd do so again if I could get in an extra trip. Good news for you - less time for the Disney blues.:) So jealous!!!

Definitely a good price too. All you need to do now is book flights for November - we did ours through BA and had quite a good price. More from you wish list with the F&G , just need to do the MNSSHP on your next trip. We'll be there on 31st!

Keep us updated on events please.

Thanks - the price made it hard not to book!
Are you 31st Oct? - till when? (seem to recall POR or French Quarter?). We’ll need to meet to say hello if we can get it into our plans.

In the meantime I have another trip to plan - eeekkk

We're at POFQ from 25th Oct, leaving on 15th Nov, with another lot of Disney friends (7 of us), and always do the party on 31st as its my sons birthday. Definitely need to try to meet up.

Love your disneyfied house - I've not got as many but collect music boxes, which you can't get in the UK as often now. Just attached a photo - bit glary with the flash.

I remember there are a few of you - I’ll miss the party this year (maybe one year it will work out as I’d love to go for trick and treat, character photos and the parade- I’ll be there from 7th to 21st Nov so hopefully our paths will cross.
