Booked POFQ for pop warner (dec 5-10) - switch to CS?

As the title implies, I have a family group of 11 going to WDW Dec. 5-10, right during pop warner fun time! We are currently set to stay at POFQ, but I have heard that POFQ is booked solid and am worried that much of this is the pop warner crowd.

Was thinking of moving the crew to Coronado Sprinds or Caribbean beach, any thoughts as to if this would be a good move or not? We miss out on the boat ride to DTD, but can obviously overlook that if the overall stay is beter.

This is the in-laws 1st and maybe only trip to WDW for a long time, so want to try to make things "magic".

Thoughts?

More info: We have 3 rooms so far - 1 with a crew of 5 (infant bed). Will the rooms at CS / CB be large enough to squeeze the infant bed into without a lot of hassle?

We have 5 adults and 6 kids (1 being the infant). Pool play is a must =D.

I would not switch. POFQ is much better resort than CS or CBR. I have stayed there multiple times during Pop Warner and never even so much as noticed the players. The problems seem to stem from the vast droves of them at All Star Sports. POFQ is the smallest resort on property and one of the most popular. It is booked to capacity pretty much year round.

Never stayed at Port Orleans. but heard it is a beautiful resort. We are staying at Coronado during Pop Warner Week... I will tell you this that I just checked on the Pop Warner website and PO as well as the All-star resorts are the resorts that the Pop Warner folks have a choice to stay at. Good luck in making your decision.

Why not try Port Orleans Riverside? It is bigger than FQ, and probably has more availability. I stayed there last year for the first time and I absolutely love POR! You are only a walk away from POFQ. You will still have the boat to DTD (which is great to have), there is a sit-down restaurant there, carriage rides, boat marina. POR is my favorite wdw resort and I cannot wait to return. This year we are staying at FQ, just to try something new, and because it is smaller... I'm really looking forward to it. But if you're concerned about the hotel being booked up, then I'd consider POR over CBR and CSR anyday!

NNNOOOO!!!! Stay put. POFQ is small and just could be booked. I cannot believe that that many (if any) of those rooms are booked for Pop Warner. The bigger groups stay at the bigger resorts. I remember a co-worker going a few years back and they were at AS but had the option to upgrade to POR for a good price.

We just got back from our first stay at FQ and will absolutely stay there again, booked solid or not.

I would hazard a guess that POFQ is so busy because lots of non-Pop Warner people who would otherwise normally stay at a Value are upgrading to stay away from the Pop Warner crowds that will predominately be all over the All-Stars.

I'm not guaranteeing you'll get a straight-shooting answer, but maybe it'll be worth calling a Disney agent and asking them straight out "If a group of 11 wanted to stay at a moderate resort during Pop Warner week, and wanted to avoid the Pop Warner crowds as much as possible, which moderate resort would be the best one to book?"

No offense to coltow, but if Pop Warner groups are being given the option of either Port Orleans resort, I'd think they'd probably his French Quarter before Riverside. Aside from being more colorful, the food court seems to be about comparable in size to Riverside's, BUT the resort's capacity is smaller, which will make getting large groups of kids eating and going a little faster. I could be wrong, maybe FQ's food court is smaller, but I thought it was about the same size (in terms of the food stations - the amount of customers it can serve at a time - anyway, the eating areas themselves differ.

Ding Ding Ding. Let the latest round of the Coronado Springs vs. Port Orleans fight begin!!! Just kidding.

In all honesty though you probably have many less of the Pop Warner crowd staying at POFQ than the All Stars and after all the stuff that went on last year I am going to bet that there will be better behavior all around (at least I would hope).

While I have never stayed a POFQ I hear that it is a lovely resort. Why let the possiblity of a little rowdiness keep you away?

Just, please, if you have a problem tell a cast member right away. I always think it is sad when I see somone post a complaint on these boards and when people ask if they said something while they were there and while things were going on they say no. Don't suffer in silence, it has seemed to me that cast members are normally very accomodating if there is a problem.

Have a great time at Port Orleans!

based on some research we'll stay put for now. Riverside is definitely out because i've read several places that it is the "preferred" moderate resort for pop warner.

POFQ and CS are both great, and both have great pools. But if I had to pick one I'd say CS. It's absolutely beautiful, and especially stunning at night.

We stayed at POFQ 2 years ago during Pop Warner. We had none of the them at our resort. However, they did stay at Riverside. We encountered a couple cheerleaders and their moms on the bus. They were very nice and didn't do any cheering. I would stick with POFQ. As stated it's a smaller resort and is probably booked because of that. We loved it there.

POFQ might just be booked becasue it is smaller than the other mods. Having stayed at all of those, I can say that my favorite is CS but it is twice as large as POFQ...may not be good with an infant. All of their pools are really cool. Check out the web sites for each resort and choose according to pics and your preferences. All of them are great so I don't think there are any wrong choices.:)

CS is pretty much booked also. We had do modify our vacation plans because there were no rooms at CS for Dec. 7th except for the "high-end suites".

I think Pop Warner groups generally stay at All-Stars and Port Orleans Riverside, not Port Orleans French Quarter, but I'm sure someone here will correct me if I have that wrong.

None taken. When my co-worker went FQ was not an option. She was told that All Stars would be where they stayed, but if they wanted to upgrade to a moderate POR was their option. They were not given any other moderate or deluxe as an option.

How many Pop Warner People Are There?

My wife and I booked a trip for Dec. 7-12 at CBR not knowing about Pop Warner. The Disney website said this is a "slow" time. How many people attend this event and what is the impact on the parks, etc? Thanks

The effects on the parks is pretty minimal. Most of the kids are at the events at WWoS. The biggest effect is on All Star Sports.

Last year there was a registration tent for Pop Warner in the PO French Quarter parking lot.

From what I've seen of the Pop Warner people, they are nice people.
They get a bad rap sometimes from a few.

The only time we were there during Pop Warner week, it was OK in the parks until Friday. Then a lot of the Pop Warner crowd was finished with the athletic/cheerleading activites and they headed for the parks.
DHS was crowded by noon and EPCOT got overwhelmed that night.

Shish Boom Bah !
Hike !

Thanks for the info. We are leaving on Friday, so that is great. Nothing against Pop Warner. I think that is a great program, might even try to see some action if I can.
