Booked at CSR/switch?

Ugh. I have 2 rooms booked at CSR for October, and now I'm stressing. Buildings being closed off and redone is one thing. Buildings being torn down is something else. Now I'm debating if I should switch resorts.

It is only a short 4 night trip, so I'm not sure about switching. If it were a longer trip, most definitely I would switch resorts. Problem is too that I booked a package before the ticket prices went up, and even then CSR was the least expensive of the moderates. And now I know why.

Any thoughts?

Not sure what to tell ya. When I went back in late May-early June, we were gonna stay at CB, but luckily we found out before we booked a resort that there was some construction going and that it was kind of a mess. So we ended up not staying there. I get what you saying. And if I were you, I'd be thinking the same thing. Good Luck!!

I was thinking the same. We have 10 nights booked in September. Was really looking forward to csr, but I could not tolerate being surrounded by the huge construction that is planned. I don't see how they will disguise the work on the new high rise planned right next to el centro where main restaurants are. Also the oasis and bridge in middle of lake how could that not impact your leisurely stroll around the lake. I'm going to wait for Disney to contact me, and if they don't I will discuss other resort options when I call in July/august to pay balance. Also at that point we will probably have photos and reports here of the scale of construction work going on. It might not be as bad as I'm imagining or they may not have started all the planned projects at that time. So for the moment I'm going to hang fire.

I was to stay at CBR in early June, but we are now switched to PORFQ. I heard that the Marketplace and Restaurant area would be closed due to re-modeling. It wasn't worth the stress to me and I found an alternative for only a $127 overall increase. Peace of mind was worth it.

I talked to my sis (she is going too) and I e-mailed our travel agent. So we will see how much switching would cost. Sis is doubly worried as she is also staying at CSR in June.

I can for sure be wrong, but I really do feel like they won't start it up until all room renovations are done. It just seems like way to much going on at once. Since when does Disney actually do things in a timely manner? I've been dying to see how fast this is going to go. I can't wait until they are done with the first building so we can hopefully get a better idea of how fast (or slow) things are actually moving.

For your trip major construction might be started. But for your sisters in June I think she's safe.

CSR is a large resort and the tower work is confined to one section. Throughout this project CSR is committed to providing a great Guest experience. At certain times of day, there may be some noise and they may have alternate paths of travel throughout the resort.

The one positive to consider is that with more rooms out of circulation, and a lot of people probably leaving the resort, the bus situation might be a lot better since there aren't many people at the resort LOL. I have a trip planned next year and I'm trying to figure out where we should stay. I wanted Coronado, as something new, but then the tower plans were announced. I think I'm going to avoid Port Orleans resorts because I feel like more people will be staying there and making the bus lines even worse. So now I'm thinking maybe we'll still do CSR or maybe do Art of Animation's Little Mermaid room. It's only for 4 nights before we go on the Disney Cruise so it's not like the trip will be ruined or anything :)

I stand corrected as of this morning lol . Steer clear of CSR if it's in your budget.

what did you mean by this? did you see or learn something? i am in the same predicament as these ladies. i would like to rebook sooner rather than later if i need to. i will bounce to AKL if its advisable.

buzz, i don't know that we've ever spoke, but if you are CSR's #1 fan, i will go out on a limb and claim the #2 spot. what are your thoughts on this change to our home? i am personally devastated. i know most things change in life, but the large tower just doesn't seem to fit with this glorious property. i follow you website too which is great, keep it up. also, are there any photo updates on the most recent room renovations specifically the bathroom/showers that you described there?

I wish I had the wiggle room to pass from CBR to AKL... Unfortunately the price difference is significant!

don't get me wrong, if i do it, its going to sting. i may have to forego dining plans at good restaurants, etc. may not get another trip for awhile. also, i would need the discount. if i don't get a discount by summer, i am probably locked in.

If I was able to get a discount, I might consider the extra dough... However, I'm still hopeful that the experience will be great if not better.

You can call me an optimist but I wish for my DS4's birthday trip to be memorable!

@Club34 I don't know how I feel yet. I've been going to CSR since 1998 and love the resort. Is it perfect, no but one of them are. I think some of the changes are going to make it better. I'm not sure about the tower but I'm willing to wait and see how this pans out. The bridges to a bar/grill from the three sections will help eliminate the complaints from guests staying in the ranchos that it was too far to walk. I also hope they add more bus service to accommodate the new 500+ rooms.

Got an email this morning regarding our May reservation at CBR regarding construction. It mentions that some areas will be under construction, but also that Old Port Royale Food Courts, Shutters, Banana Cabana Pool Bar and Calypso Trading post will be closed for refurbishment.

Options will be available for all three meals. Centretown will serve breakfast and dinner, and Centretown will serve breakfast and dinner and a selection of grab-and-go meals will be available for purchase in three island markets located in Aruba, Jamaica and Martinique regions.

Now I'm thorn. I want the resort but I want an enjoyable trip and not stress about noise, available services or food options.
And I don't really spend 2-3K more either.

Emma c I agree with you. The airfare alone is a small fortune so the last thing u want is to be in a construction zone. We don't know how fast they will work but they have already torn down cabanas building and the tower is not the only other planned renovations as they are building on the lake too. I would hope as your trip is soon Disney will work with you for alternatives. Our stay not til September so stil plenty of time for us to make a decision.

Yep exactly and to make it worse it was me that insisted on this hotel hubby really wanted to go back to POR. I have emailed our travel agent this evening however he is not in office until tomorrow really hoping he can sort something out! Or at least a promise not to be near the construction at all! Really quite gutted to be honest been working my all year to pay for this and will be gutted if this puts shadow over whole trip!

While I was looking at my options to change hotels I noticed coronado dropped to $159 a night, when yesterday there was only a king bed for $216 available ... Guessing a lot of people are going elsewhere.
