We bought our Disney package and a few days later added a room only resv. The room only is one night before our package starts. I called up and asked what I needed to do so that we don't have to check out that first day and change rooms. It's the same hotel, same level. We don't want to have to check out at 11am and come back from the park to check back in. Plus we want to go to the store that first night and get water, snacks etc. We don't wanna move all that to another room.....Anyway, I called and asked. I was told they could not add on the room. We will have to check out. Or we could pay an additional $400 ish to add that day on to the package. We don't even get in until after 6pm...we don't need dining and pack tickets....Is there anything else we can do? Thanks

As Disvillain63 said, make sure they know at check-in and they will try to accommodate you. We did it once at the Wilderness Lodge. After making our initial reservation, we decided we wanted to arrive a day earlier. There were no courtyard views available when I went to book the additional night, so I had to book a standard room. When we checked in, they were kind enough to give us the same courtyard view for all 5 nights. It's no guaranteed but they will most likely do it if they can. I believe that I did have to go back down to the front desk and check-in on the morning of the second day, that was before magic bands, but we didn't have to move rooms.

We have the same situation coming up in November, we added 1 more day to the beginning of our trip.

While it was not at Disney, last week on a business trip to Savannah, we had to add an extra day at the beginning of the trip and it was a different reservation on a different account. What the hotel we were staying in had us do was just come back to the desk the next morning, we checked out and then checked back in for the rest of the trip on the new reservation, all done at the desk, no changing rooms or anything, just changed reservations in their system. So basically we checked out then checked right back in, no other changes and no room change. It was easy, hopefully it will be easy for you.

You catch more flies with honey, as my mom likes to say... Just be really nice about it when you check in and ask if there's any way they can accomodate you so you guys won't have to check out.

Having done this exact thing a couple of times, you will have to go to the front desk and check in for the 2nd stay. I always go first thing in the morning so there is no line and have always been able to stay in the same room.

And yes, I have done this at WL .
