Book now, discount later?

I'm planning a trip for January and was hoping to take advantage of the same discount I received last year (if offered). Instead of free dining I believe it was Play, Stay and Dine.

The question I have is, if I book before the discount is offered can I still take advantage of it once it is offered?

As long as your room choice has availability under the discount, you can have them apply the discount. Keep in mind that discounts are only offered if occupancy isn't meeting their expectations. So by booking a room, you could potentially be hitting their occupancy level, causing them to not do a discount for that room class, that is the chance you take.

You can definitely do that. Jump on the deal when it first comes out because discount rooms at the more popular resorts go quick.

We had our trip booked for POR before the fall free dining offer came out. We didn't call right away when it was released and when we did call our resort had no discounted rooms left. We had to switch to CSR, but it saved us $1000, so it was worth it.

The current offer for the fall free dining ends Sept. 15, so keep an eye out for a new offer which may cover your time period to come out after that.

Booking now or later is always a bit of a gamble. As @dreamfinder pointed out, Disney offers discounts based on projected booking rates. If they meet their projections then they will not offer a discount and your reservation just might be the one that pushes it over the edge.

What I would advise my clients to do is book what they can afford at rack rates only if they were 100% sure that they were going with or without a discount. If the had to have the discount, I would advise them to wait until a promotion was released.

We will definitely be going with or without the discount! So thank you all for answering my question. I have faith that a discount WILL be offered as I've taken advantage of them many, many times in January. I'll go ahead and book and then cross my fingers. :)

Did that last year for February 2013 trip and again this year for November 2014. I book the package and when/if the discounts come I call and ask them if any are applicable to my reservation; POFQ is excluded of any discounts almost all the time but I was able to apply the Stay Play and Dine discount this time around.

The discount/Free Dining is nice but I'll be going either way so I book it and hope I can save a little money (that will be spent on Disney property more than likely) but if not, it's all right.

Also keep in mind that all of the Kingdom Konsultant agents who do bookings for you, will keep an eye on any available discounts and apply them, if available for your resort/ room type, as soon as they are available. Marie
