Boma: Worth it if not staying at AKL?

Absolutely! It's a great experience.

If you book for the same day you go to AK, it's a short bus trip over, but even from anywhere in the Orlando area, I'd be going to Boma at least once per visit.

Depends -- I like Boma breakfast, but have been to dinner twice now and did not enjoy it either time. Terrible service both times, and the food was not well prepared (hot dishes were served cold, "roasted" vegetables weren't cooked all the way through, etc.). I know some people love their dinner, but I haven't had a good experience with it and won't bother trying again. Hopefully if you go you'll have better luck!

I think if you spend a bit more time browsing this particular sub-forum on WDW Dining, you will inevitably find a lot of positive review of Boma. You'll find it listed in many people's top places to eat at WDW. It is certainly at the top of my list. It doesn't offer your regular fare, and it is certainly not boring same old thing.

My family has never stayed at AKL, but we always drive to the resort just to eat at Boma. It is definitely my favorite restaurant on property.

Must agree it's worth the trip. It has a nice African-theme to it but there's plenty of good food there for everyone. Last time we went, I think my dad got the prime rib three times. The soups, desserts are great and as ZapperZ mentioned, it's not the same old blah. My advice: Go hungry and enjoy!

We just ate there for breakfast and loved it. Be careful, my friend found a big chunk of foil in his bread!

I went out of my way to go there for breakfast - not only for the food, but because it gave me a chance to see AKL, and the Xmas decorations there last year.

Boma is awesome. The food is unique and has a lot of variety. Me and my Wife love to get just a little of everything so we can try it all. And if you're not feeling the African fair, they still have pizza, corndogs, and fries. It's a buffett, but not with lines. The food is organized in pods and staffed with servers at the pods. It's one of my favorite places to eat, and the food tastes great.

No. But Jiko is :slurp:
:veryconfu I'm confused by your reply.

Are you answering the previously posed question of whether or not Boma is a buffet? If so, you are incorrect. Been to both. Been to Boma several times. Boma is indeed a buffet. Jiko is not.

I think he was replying to the origional question. He's saying Boma isn't worth it, but Jiko is.
