Boma Wine Flight

When we eat at Boma I always get the red wine flight and my husband gets the white wine flight. The flights are not always exactly the same - I've seen two different variations at different times of year. The wines are good but not extraordinary. They are all South African wines. You get a place mat describing each of the three wines - all three glasses come at once. The mat includes the wine's name and a really flowery description of the predominant flavors and overtones ("scents of rose petals, and cinnamon...", "pleasant spicey oak aromas..."). Most of the wines are available for purchase at the Zawadi Marketplace upstairs if you like them. I really enjoy the wine flight because you get an interesting variety, and it's just enough wine but not too much to drink at dinner.

Example of a red wine flight: Porcupine Ridge Merlot, Guardian Peak Frontier (blend), Fairview Pinotage.

Example of a white wine flight: Beyond Sauvignon Blanc, Delheim Gewurztramminer, Raats Original Chenin Blanc.

Had the white wine flight when we were there last March.
Our favorite was a Clouds Chardonnay, as a matter of fact we buy it regularly here at home now.
