BOG Dinner

my trip this fall includes me, dh and ds2.5. Its for 10ish days and most days we start out in one park, stay through lunch, then head back to the Poly for rest. For the evening we will head out to dinner in another park and hit the rides there. Our first full day is the only day we are doing MK both morning and evening. I currently have Columbia Harbour House planned for lunch and BOG for dinner.

We have eaten at BOG once before, but it was for lunch. The food was decent, but something about the meal lacked the specialness I was expecting eating in a setting that cool. I was planning on trying dinner there to see if the table service aspect would improve on it. I want to give it another shot.

My question is whether the meal cost is worth it. For dinner prices, are the food and ambiance improved? Would we be better off trying it again for lunch instead because its cheaper and picking something on a monorail line for a nicer dinner?

We enjoyed our dinner there. Why not just give it a try? Also know that dinner is the only time you can meet the Beast there.

I've had many dinners at BOG with meals ranging from FANTASTIC to so-so in regards to food. I would definitely recommend the steak, lamb, shrimp&scallops...probably skip the pork chop and braised beef.

As for the atmosphere, it depends where you dine as the ballroom can seem loud at any time of day, but I personally find it very magical. Rose Gallery & West Wing are quieter. There's definitely less chaos and movement during dinner as people's meals take longer and there's less turnover than you would see from breakfast and lunch, so that may help improve your experience.

I'd definitely give it a try if you enjoyed lunch. It's an immersive place to be!

DH and I have been twice, both times for dinner. We've had a great experience both times. First time DH got the shellfish in puff pastry, I got chicken. Next time he had the strip steak and me the ratatouille. All was awesome. We sat in the back of the ballroom the second time which we loved, next to the snowy window. So cool.
Give it a try!

You may already know this, but the food isn't just "more expensive," it's an entirely different style of dining from lunch. It's 100% a sit-down dining experience, where you order from a waiter and whatnot.

Thats why i am thinking of giving it a second try. I am hoping the different food offerings at dinner, plus the sit down aspect is more in line with what I am looking for. Lunch just left me a little unimpressed, but I couldnt exactly place my finger why.

I enjoyed BOG for dinner. I wouldn't go out and say that the food is the best in all of Disney World but it was good. Meeting the Beast afterwards was cool.

We've always enjoyed dinner at BoG especially the steak or shrimp/scallops entrees. The last time I was there, our server was incredibly busy so service was slower than normal. And it does seem like the ballroom is louder than other rooms but I actually prefer it to the west wing section. The west wing is a smaller room and, when we were there, there were a lot of people walking by taking pictures of the rose. It made me feel more crowded and tense for some reason. And after a while the thunder noise started to irritate my husband lol. Next time we're able to eat dinner there, I hope to try the rose gallery :) It looked more relaxing from where I was sitting in the ballroom.

My take: the food is good, but nowhere worth the meal cost (though it's a better "value" than BoG breakfast by a mile). You're paying for the ambiance and the service. We only recommend it to friends planning an MK day who are big fans of the movie and thus will appreciate the atmosphere the most.
