Has anyone checked on @raven24 !! Are you doing okay?

I was in class.🤓

Honestly, I don’t care about this news. I’ll always love Disneyland, but I’m at a point in my life where I value other activities and places. I’d prefer my money go elsewhere. The recent changes to the parks have been disappointing already, so I don’t see a significant difference.

Catch me in the U.K. this summer.

I'm sorry, but you guys are acting silly and dramatic. And for those of you laughing at me on my last post, I wasn't trying be funny. I'm serious. I'm just trying be mature. I don't want to go obsessing or get upset and say this is the end of Disney as we know crap. I'm trying to be open minded and giving him a chance. If you don't want to give him a chance, that's fine. Have it your way. I'm sorry that I was ranting and I hate it when I rant, but this is just way out of proportion.

I guess it's expected that the "death of the parks" fear would light up the fan base after a momentous shift in leadership like this one. Some of the sky-is-falling reaction I've glanced at here would've probably happened even if Walt himself was resurrected from the grave today and immediately named CEO.

That said, the majority of the classic Disneyland experience we admire and love was doomed to Never Land sometime in 1984 when the company purposely began leveraging and beefing up its IP assets after thwarting a hostile, and frankly very scary, corporate takeover. To me the soul of their theme park business has gradually been diminished ever since, to the point that today there's nothing meaningful left to argue about preserving. These days Disney Parks & Resorts serves primarily as an extremely lucrative promotional vehicle for Disney's biggest brands. So, all things considered, it really should be zero surprise to those familiar with the direction of the company's business strategy that Chepek, or someone with a similar vision, was selected to lead. I literally read the news this evening and shrugged.

OAN I bet Wall Street is thrilled with the news.

And it's "Effective immediately".

The "effective immediately" part is what surprised me most. Sounds like someone trying to cash out their golden parachute before "breaking news" happens.

Here's the interview that aired on CNBC a few hours ago. This is rather painful to watch, and Mr. Chapek looks like he is about to throw up. Their words and talking points are very predictable, but this is still really weird.

They don't look very happy for two people making this "great for the company" transition. I have a feeling Chapek already knows he's the fall guy.

Yeah, that CNBC interview was just really weird. It almost does more damage than it helps.

I'm not quite sure what's going on, but I have this sinking suspicion that something is going on in Burbank beyond what they are saying publicly. Something weird. 🧐

Surprised no one has mentioned this post from @WDW Pro from the main thread in the WDW forum yet:

Okay, so in bizarro news...

... one of my trustworthy contacts had this to say:

"Iger is looking at DNC and potential for a contested convention. In event of a contested convention Iger is interested in putting his name forward as he is vehemently opposed to Bernie Sanders. Iger also doesnt believe Bloomberg has a pathway to victory. In this scenario Iger could step in & become a moderate Democratic nominee without any of the mud that comes from primaries. Iger also believes Trump would have a difficult time hitting him hard as hes tied to Disney brand that Americans generally favor greatly. The chances of all this coming to fruition is low but moves that have occurred allow Iger to step in if the 2% scenario land. Simultaneous Iger clears himself of the stain of the company taking a hit if corona goes apocalyptic."

So... I'm taking this with a grain of salt, you should too, but that's what I'm hearing.

I still think it partially has to do with a certain former Hollywood mogul who used to work for/with Disney, was convicted yesterday and is expected to appear in a California court soon.

This may have been the straw that broke the camel's back on top of various economic concerns for the company.

You know what? I tried to be nice and very mature, but, you guys are very immature and some of you used this laughing emoji thinking I’m in a dark side, which I’m not. I’m trying to be open minded, which some of you guys stank at doing. Just for that, I might quit this discussion board, because you all nothing but bunch of sad, pathetic, and over-dramatic toxic fandom. I bid you all, good night!
We're not being immature, also it's not just the board that's upset. Have you checked out the reactions by Disney Theme Park fans from Twitter? And where were you when Chapek decided to cut the walk-around/stage shows for Galaxy's Edge?

Who’s making fun of you? I don’t think I’ve seen anyone replying to any of your posts. And if you’re referring to the emojis on your post, then don’t worry about it. Just ignore it, the like system means next to nothing on this board.

I did see a little bit on twitter. And I don't know if he did cut the walk arounds or stage shows for Galaxy's Edge. And you know what? I don't care what you miserable toxic fandom have to say about Bob Chapek. I'm giving him a chance before passing judgement whether you guys like it or not. So there!

All right. I'll try.
