Because he’s chairman of parks and resorts?
You’re forgetting the rules of Disney fandom and this message board.

If the Parks make an unpopular decision, then D’Amaro did so very reluctantly and only at the insistence (over D’Amaro’s passionate objections) of Bob Chapek.

D’Amaro is the only hope to return Disney to the halcyon days of our fond nostalgic memories, as evidence by opening day high-fives and carefully orchestrated Instagram posts.

Because he's pretty.
We need not suffer through Chapek speaking in front of the Castle again.

That's a ridiculous statement.
It's really not. D'Amaro's rise is on the same trajectory as Chapek's, and he's been a loyal lieutenant. You cannot find daylight between their leadership prerogatives. But people swoon at every appearance of D'Amaro, and perceived attractiveness (especially conventionally attractive people) have a clear advantage in life and business, which has been scientifically documented: https://www.businessinsider.com/bea...rkers-are-considered-more-able-by-employers-1

From my understanding, the guy genuinely cares about the parks. Could he be corrupted working in corporate? Sure. But I can’t fathom him reaching Chapek levels.
He has a funny way of showing it. Also several thousand former Disney store cast who were lied to for months then permanently laid off with little warning would disagree. He is great with his PR, and he remodelled some break rooms, but he is Chapek Jr and people need to realize hes not the saviour they’re looking for.

Seeing as the petition by former imagineers circulating to fire Chapek openly states they believe Josh would make a better CEO, clearly he has the vote of many working in the company.

I firmly believe Josh is actually someone who gets it, but also has to navigate a corporate world and Chapek.
