Boardwalk

We stayed in a 1BR villa in February. It was very nice. If you NEED to find something to find fault in, you can. Some people search for something to complain about. Since we do not need things to be as pristine as the Taj Mahal, Sistine Chapel, or as impeccable as a surgery room, the room was excellent.

If you do happen to find something that is too bothersome to you, the staff will do everything they can to correct it. You can't beat the resort too easily. Location to almost everything. The Hess station is a massive money saver. One example is the $5 16oz screw top Bud. At Hess, you get 6-pack for $6-$8. DHS, Epcot are walking distance. Night life on the Boardwalk is a blast. You can see the MK fireworks over BC, you can walk to watch Illuminations. Walking distance to visit 4 resorts. Fantasia Gardens is right there too.

Is it the best? Maybe not. Does it have the most to do? Most likely.

What's the bus transportation to the MK and DAK? Does the resort share with others? Thanks :)

We have a car, so getting to the parks is much easier for us. We only take buses to MK. Buses are shared with the Swan and Dolphin. It is not that bad unless it is at peak times (early morning, late at night).

In general, my take on buses is that they SUCK all over Disney property. That is just me. They spent $B's on technology that they refuse to use. All they need to do is create kiosks at the bus stops. It shows when the last bus arrived for your destination, you scan your band and touch where you are headed, and the system can update on the screen when a bus should arrive. It is too simple. I guess they do not want guests to really know that "every 20 minutes" is a pipe dream In many cases, you would see 3 buses for 1 park show up before yours. It is unfair to use DTD as an example because of the construction, but they have to find a way to deal with it. We did wait over 30 minutes for a bus to DTD on 2 occasions. The MK bus was not bad, but if you just missed one, it is definitely more than a 20 minute wait. Walking to Epcot and DHS is a huge plus. Having a car for DAK is a bonus too.

Just got back and Boardwalk was the first stop to be dropped off from the parks, but when taking the bus from Boardwalk to the parks, it stopped at both Swan and Dolphin before getting on its way.

But Boardwalk was the first picked up, am I understanding that right? Trying to decide between a few resorts for my next trip, and that would be a big plus for the Boardwalk.

The Boardwalk is fabulous. I'm biased, as it's my favorite resort on property. We've always loved our villa's, and haven't had any problems with them. They've been my favorite rooms that we've stayed in. We drive, so I can't comment much on the bus situation. But I don't think you would ever regret staying there!

Wait until you see the renovated rooms. I thought they were going to have to call the cops to get me to vacate the amazing one bedroom villa we were in. The bathroom area is bigger than my NYC apartment and I am not exaggerating in the slightest.

Can you see the fireworks over at EPCOT ? The night time entertainment looks like it would be fun to see.

Oh how I wish I could see them this fall! We couldn't swing the cost this time, and renting points didn't work out since everything was booked. We're at POFQ this time which I love too. But those villa's do spoil you! :)

I never saw Epcot fireworks from the Boardwalk, I don't think it's possible to see more than maybe the tips of a few fireworks. The Boardwalk is fun at night. There's usually magicians walking around performing. The bakery & ice cream shop are good for desserts. And we really just enjoy walking the loop in the evening.

When's the last time you were at Boardwalk? They renovated the rooms a few years ago, I'm just wondering if they did so again. I was really impressed with the redecoration (although they didn't change the size of the rooms, they were always bigger than your NYC apartment! LOL). I agree, the bathrooms in the IBR villas are crazy, so many doors!!

No, I'm talking about the Villas. We were put in a newly renovated room in a newly renovated wing where you could still smell the paint drying. I swear we were the first ones in this room. I am aware that they did the Inn several years ago.
