Boardwalk vs. BC/YC

I have a question, and I absolutely don't mean this is any sort of sarcastic way, but why would someone stay at either Beach Club or Yacht Club instead of Boardwalk Inn? Boardwalk obviously has the whole Boardwalk area (lots of restaurants, entertainment), and has the most "themed feel" of the three, at least from what I've seen.

I've stayed at Boardwalk twice now, and have considered staying at either YC or BC for something new, but I don't see what the draw is. But I realize I must be missing something, because YC and BC are the same price as BW. ;-)

Thanks for any insight you can share! I'll be booking my May trip soon, and the most fun part, for me, is deciding which resort to stay at.

The rooms are a little bit larger at YC/BC, bus service is better and they have the mini-bars in the rooms. I also believe the pool is better and you don't have to walk very far to get to Beaches and Cream. YC/BC also have a full size daybed and not the smaller size at BW which is great if you have older children who won't sleep together in the same bed.

I have stayed in all 3 resorts and I still like the YC/BC better. It's all in the minor details.

We stayed at the Boardwalk Inn in August and the bus service is shared by the YC/BC, Boardwalk, Swan and Dolphin... thats not a plus in my book. They were few and far between and always very crowded.

I like the general vicinity of the Boardwalk/YC/BC... walk to EPCOT and a quick boat ride to MGM. The one thing we didn't like was the restaurant set up...I would rather have them inside the resort. My family didn't really care for the Boardwalk's offerings and we travelled elsewhere to eat (love the Yachtsman Steakhouse).

Yes, sometimes buses are shared but YC/BC get on the bus first, a plus for me.

Difference in rates?

Not 100% on topic, but is there much of a difference in the room rates for the two? Frequency/availability of passholder discount offerings? I've always wanted to try these two, but usually end up @ AKL or POR because of the great passholder rates ..... I'd love to be right at the International gateway during the Food & Wine Festival.

When BW first opened a room was a tad less expensive than YC/BC. These days, I find that they are the same price.

I agree. To add to your wonder post; The rooms were not that great, the package pickup is outside and mug refills is outside. This might sound minor but with the prices we paid, I expect better. The YC/BC is the same cost and is laid out better.

In my opinion YC/BC is just a classier run hotel.
I agree, during our stay at BW we made that same comment several times. IT's the same price and it really the same location, why are we staying at BW? Plus we love Yactmens and Beaches -n- Cream :slurp:

We like them both. But as always it depends on who is going with you (Age, etc) and what you enjoy.

BC has the better pool and kids love it, not to mention this adult. Beaches & Cream ( Got the Kitchen Sink for my last Birthday).

Boardwalk is more nostalgic for those from the north east Atlantic shores. I had the chance to treat my parents(Early 70's) and picked the Boardwalk becuase I knew they would have memories of the theming, plus a stroll on the boardwalk, etc. My dad loved getting some coffee and a paper and sitting in a rocking chair overlooking the lake and the boardwalk.

Hi Kennedy,

I've stayed at all three hotels and I do like the Boardwalk the best. The Beach Club is a big hit with families for the pool area. It's like a mini water park and the nicest on property. The Cape May Cafe also has a very good character breakfast and the clambake at night.

The Yacht Club is a very elegant hotel. The decor is more upscale than the other two. It has the Yachtsman steakhouse which is one of the best restaurants on property.

The downfalls with the Y&B is the fact that if you are down at the end of one of the wings you are walking forever to get to the elevator at either hotel.

Having to go outside was another drawback for us as we couldn't let our youngest go to refill her mug alone.

All in what you prefer, of course, but I'd rather NOT be so close to the entertainment district that is Boardwalk.

We had a room overlooking the Boardwalk right above the Flying Fish and we never heard a sound at all. It was a nice stay, but not our best. That title is reserved for the WL.

As said before, Y&B has the awesome pool with the nice sand on the bottom... which is really cool.

Also, when you're stying at the BW, when you're in your room, you have a view of the Y&B, which at night is a black hole. But if you stay in the Y&B, you might possibly have a view of the BW, which is beautiful at night. And Y&B is more peaceful, unless you like hustle and bustle.

My experiences have a bus for Yacht/Beach and a separate bus for BW/Swan/Dolphin. Of course it was like this for that last week in December, but it was also this way in May of last year.

We also prefer Yacht Club much more for the morning sunrise. We are morning people, and the morning sunrise shines directly onto the Yacht Club side of Crescent Lake, whereas the BoardWalk Inn side is shrouded in darkness in the morning. YC also has those great full balconies.

I also like being on the quiter side of Crescent Lake, and if I want the extra commotion, I walk to BW instead of having the extra people on my side of the Resort.

The BW main pool is pretty small too, and not very deep. I like when pools are over my head, much like Stormalong Bay.

We love the Yacht Club! But we hang out on the BoardWalk side too...
