Boardwalk vs. BC/YC

I have a question, and I absolutely don't mean this is any sort of sarcastic way, but why would someone stay at either Beach Club or Yacht Club instead of Boardwalk Inn? Boardwalk obviously has the whole Boardwalk area (lots of restaurants, entertainment), and has the most "themed feel" of the three, at least from what I've seen.

I've stayed at Boardwalk twice now, and have considered staying at either YC or BC for something new, but I don't see what the draw is. But I realize I must be missing something, because YC and BC are the same price as BW. ;-)

Thanks for any insight you can share! I'll be booking my May trip soon, and the most fun part, for me, is deciding which resort to stay at.

But if you stay in the Y&B, you might possibly have a view of the BW, which is beautiful at night..

Yep! We always try to get a water view room at whichever Resort we are staying at, and Yacht Club views looking out towards the BaordWalk are very nice to look at at night.

Not 100% on topic, but is there much of a difference in the room rates for the two? Frequency/availability of passholder discount offerings? I've always wanted to try these two, but usually end up @ AKL or POR because of the great passholder rates ..... I'd love to be right at the International gateway during the Food & Wine Festival.

Yacht/Beach/BoardWalk ahve the same rach rate orices throughout the year, and thus have the same AP prices throughout the year as well. We had a November quoted AP room at YC for 234/night. AP discounts are usually in the 209, 219, 249, 319/night price area depending on the season.

During November for the Festival, our friends usually get a YC room for around 219 with an AP discount.

Fortunately, during New Years week we have always been fortunate enough to get AP discounts. Our cheapest was 189/night back in 2002 (CRAZY!!!) and our highest was 234/night back in 2005. Rack rates for a water view room during this time period were 545/night. We made out like bandits!!!!!

We haven't stayed at BW, but even so, we prefer the YC. It just seems quieter and if we want the entertainment on the BW, we just have to walk over there. And the only restaurant we ever really hit over there is Spoodles.

A lot of people have complained about the long walk to your room in BC or YC but I actually prefer it. But then again, we prefer hotels that are spread out (and love to walk), so it's all about what you prefer.

You also don't have the 'beach' feel like you do at the BC/YC which I find very relaxing. And you can't go wrong with a lazy river...

Exactly! I enjoy walking and being able to explore outside pathways. That is why we love Yacht Club and Caribbean Beach. CB is built on beautiful and expansive grounds, while YC has guest wings that jut our pretty wide with great landscaping. We prefer what most complain about--the walking over Resort grounds!!

I'd always wanted to try the Poly b/c that seems large and spread out too. Most other deluxes appear too "hotel" for our tastes...
