Boardwalk Villas

My family and I are staying in a 1 bedroom villa when we go. I love the boardwalk itself, I've only seen the lobby though. I was wondering if any of you had stayed there and what did you think?

I've only stayed at the Inn. The first time was fabulous...we had a quiet room with a fantastic view of Illuminations, a really friendly maid, not too far to walk to the lobby (and morning coffee on the 2nd floor.) The second time wasn't as nice...1st floor with our "patio" opening onto the center courtyard...lots of people walking by, so I had to keep the drapes drawn. It was also a long walk to the lobby, buses, etc.

I'll be staying at the villas in August (along with some friends) so would also like some opinions on the villas.

The Villas are nice. We did a DVC tour and they showed up the villa there. I think they share a lobby with just different check in areas.

An interesting Boardwalk fact...

There is a tme capsule hidden in the lobby somewhere from when the resort opened. They are going to open it when WDW has it's 50th anniversary.

Can't be beat.

I have stayed in the Boardwalk Villas twice, once in a studio, and once in a two bedroom. The units are smaller than those at Old Key West, but then again, OKW isn't in the same place as Boardwalk is. The only problem that I encountered is that there is only one set of elevators, and if you happen to be at the end of the hall, good luck. It took us almost ten minutes to walk from our room, go down the elevators, and walk to the spot on the boardwalk under our room. The stairs don't help either, they exit to the back of the resort, and you must walk all the way around.

Both times, we had preferred view rooms that looked over the boardwalk. Our studio was under the "O" in Crest "O" the Waves. Great views of the boardwalk, EPCOT and Illuminations. The rooms are plenty big, have all the supplies, and are as nice as some of the Deluxe resorts where I have stayed. It is, by far, the funnest place to stay. My wife and I always stay there, unless we have the kids, and then we head over to OKW.

The pool is great, the location is great, and there is nothing like walking through the World Showcase before it opens. I am sure that you will enjoy it.

Have a great trip!

wow! no kidding! that IS interesting!! i've never heard that before! geez....another 20 years!

i've stayed at the Villas once. (April 2001) i loved it! it's my fave of the DVC resorts so far! but i gotta tell ya, we had the perfect pool view (if you like that sort of view) we were right above one of the main walkways to the pool, so we had an unobstructed view of it. and it was really very nice to go out on the balcony and sit and watch people out there playing (i'm not a public pool person myself, so i enjoyed sitting out in the evening sun and watching everyone else) the Spoodles pizza was pretty good, but not the best i've ever eaten on Disney property. i wish i could tell you about the bakery, but i didn't eat there. but you've said you've visited before, so you might know all about the eateries already.
but yeah, as for the rooms, they're great! i didn't have the elevator problem personally (thank God we were on the same level as the lobby, and only a few doors down the hallway!) we were certainly lucky when it came to the room in terms of location and view and such! and i feel sorry for those who get put at the end of a hallway...those halls are LONG!
but overall they're so nice to stay at! you'll love it, i'm sure!! give us a full account when you get back!! :D
