Boardwalk Villas vs. Beach Club Villas

Hi Everyone, Looking for some help. We would love to stay in villa accomodation and are between the Boardwalk and Beach Club. Our main concern is the to Magic Kingdom...only buses are available. Is the walk to Epcot short enough to grab the monorail to MK there? What are your thoughts? We have 2 children 6 and 4.....

The villas are really nice.

The walk to the monorail is not so bad.
Depending on how you want to do things.
If your in a rush or something forget the monorail and take the bus.
Sometimes the buses are a bit slow it varies.

Now if you want to take things a little slow.
Say if you wanted to go to Magic Kingdom for a evening you could
pass by world showcase eat a nice dinner then finish walking to the monorail and still have time to see Wishes.
Which we have done before and it's a very nice little plan.

If you like to walk around I say the walk isn't so bad to the station.

If your trying to go in the morning take the bus.
;)

I personally love the Beach Club Villas.

Also if you are really on planning to use the monorail a lot or thinking that your children will
want to go to Magic Kingdom a lot.
Your best choice then would be the Contemporary, you just can't beat it's convenience.

Take the bus

We just came back from Boardwalk during the July 4th week, one of the busiest week of the year. We never waited more than 10 or 15 minutes for a bus. The Boardwalks bus stop is covered with several benches. The walk to the Monorail would be much longer and you would still have to wait for a Monorail. The pool at Beach Club is great for kids if that helps.

We have stayed at both the boardwalk villas and the beach club villas. I have to say that on both of those trips we never had any problem with buses to the magic kingdom. We never had to wait too long. And MK is the park we go to the most, usually 4 times a trip or so.

You could walk through the international gateway and to the front of epcot to catch the monorail, but with young children you may not want to. that can be kind of tiring. Unless they are both in strollers and you can push them. Of course, you may get tired then.

that being said, we LOVED staying at both the boardwalk and the beach club. The location is so fabulous! We loved the convenience of epcot so close for dinner in the evening. And we loved taking the boat to mgm. I don't think you can go wrong with either of these resorts!

Just stayed at Beach Club Villas and loved it! Great pool and lots of activities. Rooms were great. Had hard time getting my 6 & 7 year old to go to parks,as they liked the hotel so much. Busses were good for M.K. as they drop you off by main gate. Would not recomend Epcot monorail unless you are planning a meal at Polynesian or Grand Floridian because it does not go directly to M.K.

We just stayed at BWV in July. I too thought of going thru EPCOT to use the monorail. But we didn't. The bus service was great. Never waited more than 10 minutes to MK, and a much shorter walk. Also the walkway to the bus stop is covered. Good thing during the afternoon rains. The only thing to keep in mind is the bus makes other stops at Dolphin and Swan, and once on returning in mid day we made stops at Yacht and Beach too. But not a big deal.

Both resorts are great, and I do not think you can make a wrong choice.

I stayed in the Beach Club villas and it was lovely. It was seven of us and we had more than enough room. Also, it was nice to walk right into Epcot through France. The rooms were really nice.

I don't think I would choose BWV. I find that BCV are far more convenient than Boardwalk. I've always found counter-service meals annoying at BW. You have to go all the way out of the hotel to get breakfast, etc. The BC now has the Marketplace inside the store. It makes life a lot easier- especially in the rain.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about the BCV! We love it there! As many others have said- the bus service is good. In the time it takes you to enter EPCOT- walk all the way to the front- catch the monorail- change trains at Transportation- go to MK - and enter the park--------- you could already be in the MK on a ride had you taken the bus. Not to mention- the bus stop is a very short walk from the villas.

However- if you really want closeness to MK- you could try the Wilderness Lodge Villas. We love there, too!

Everytime we've stayed at BCV we haven't had a problem with the buses. The walk thru Epcot to the monorail is quite a walk as you have to go thru both sections of the park, do you want to do that much walking before you get to MK where you'll do more walking?

How much time will you be spending at MK? Especially with the young kids? If the answer is "Most of our time will be at MK" then stay at a monorail resort (Contemporary, Poly, GF). If not, just take the bus. as everyone else said, it's easy and convenient. If you have the need to ride the monorail, take a hop around the express monorail and enjoy the sights then catch your bus. As for which resort, BC or BW, I pick BC. the pool is waaaay better, if that's a consideration. And the food is easier to get to for CS meals. However BW has a better selection (great bakery) but it jut isn't particularly convenient.

Thank you!

As always, advice is invaluable. I am leaning toward Beach Club Villas based on the answers. Thanks so much for your suggestions.

I will throw my vote in for Boardwalk. I like the atmosphere over there better. BC pool really does not thrill me all that much. It is neat, but its also crowded, noisy, and not really somthing to swim laps in.

As for walking to the monorail. When I am by myself I do it all the time. I may meander around in EPCOT on my way over, and then jump on the monorail.

With my kids, I take the bus. Trekking that distance with a 6 and 9 y/o taks a good amount of time, and they dont particulary like it.

I'll throw my vote for the BCV also. We are DVC members there. The pool is great, but the boardwalk night life is awesome also, the good thing is its a 5 minute walk over to BWV to enjoy the night life. Either way you can't lose both are great. We also always do the buses when heading to MK. Its been two years since I was at BCV, and the same bus stopped at Swan and Dolphin, Yatch, Beach and Boardwalk. since they are all in the same circle. But by some of the posts it sounds like they changed that route. either way buses where always prompt and never a long wait.
