Boardwalk or Beach Club?

For our 10 year anniversary in 2013, my wife wants to stay at the Grand Floridian, which is her dream resort. This year, we are staying in my dream resort, the Wilderness Lodge. I asked my wife where she might want to stay for next year's trip, and she said Port Orleans Riverside, if money is an issue. But if money is not an issue, she said Boardwalk or Beach Club. So I'm just curious which one everyone here would pick between those two?

If you were picking, would it be Boardwalk or Beach Club, and why?

We stayed at Yacht Club this past visit and I absolutely loved it. Pool aside, I loved the decor and atmosphere, so my vote goes to Beach Club which is similar enough and you get the pool access. Plus you're right near the International Gateway, so the walk to Epcot is nothing.

Either way you can't lose, Boardwalk is also a great resort and one I want to stay at some day.

We are partial to the BC. There is something about the atmosphere that appeals to us. The pool is awesome and the boardwalk is just a short walk with all it has to offer. Like others have said. You can't go wrong either way. Enjoy!

At the BC we had the benefit of the BW without the noise and crowds, we love it and have never had a problem finding a sunbed or space in the pool as some have suggested.

For an adult trip--BOARDWALK hands down!

Beach Club is geared as more a family resort. The lobby was always covered in games (building blocks, Scrabble boards, dolls, hopscotch) and screaming, unruly kids with parents standing by not keeping them in line. It totally ruined the feel of the Resort. There is a strong Disney character presence built into the decor as well....Little Mermaid characters garishly thrown into the carpets and curtains....of an 1800s Nantucket Seaside Resort.

BoardWalk has more of an adult feel because everything is more grand, and not as "childish" as the Beach Club felt. The lobby was always immaculate and never was cluttered with games. The interior of the hallways and common areas is much, MUCH more themed than Beach Club, and has a really neat old time feel to it.

Do yourself a favor and select BoardWalk Inn.

Perhaps I forgot to mention that next year's trip will be the first trip for our daughter, who is now a year and a half old, and the third trip for our son, who will be almost 6 at that time.

Well, we stayed at YC and Boardwalk and visited BC. I'd say our room and view from Boardwalk was much nicer than at YC. However, the kids LOVED the pool area at YC. At both the buses share to all those deluxe resorts in that area...one bus to MK for YC/BC, BW, Swan & Dolphin. I did feel really bad for the people at the BC because the bus always picked up at the YC first so it was almost always scattered seats or standing room only on the buses by the time they stopped at BC. IF you select BC over YC I'd take the extra few minutes and walk to the YC bus stop. Also, we never noticed the 'kiddie' impact at YC like others mentioned. YC certainly didn't feel childish.

It was not an issue of finding space in the pool. It is an issue of being able to actually swim in the pool (as opposed to 'play')

There are no really decent long straight sections where you can swim something approaching a lap. It's all either the lazy river, the sand bottom play area, or the whirlpool.

And you can find a chair, just all the way in the back, far from either the pool or the bar.

Again, not a bad area, just not what I would call a relaxing pool meant for swimming.
