Boardwalk 2-room Villas

Howdy wdwmagic forum viewer peoples,

I'm headed to the world early next year to run the Disney marathon, and am in the process of booking my room, and hoping to get some feedback on the Boardwalk 2-room villas.

I'm headed there with my wife, three kids (ages, 4 and 2[twins]) and my parents.

We decided on Boardwalk because of its proximity to Epcot and generally because I have always wanted to stay there.

I was hoping to get some feedback on the 2-room villas there - specifically on the comfort of the rooms and the ability to get into Epcot. Can you use the world showcase gate to get into Epcot in the morning if you are a resort guest?

Also, how easy is it to get to DHS? Can you take a boat from there?

Looking forward to hearing back from anyone that has stayed in a 2-bedroom villa at Boardwalk.

Thanks all.

While I have yet to stay in one of the 2br villas I have been in one and there are quite nice. They are 1226 square feet are are set up kind of like a 2br apartment. Here is a floor plan.

You will enter Epcot through the international gateway and DHS can be accessed either by boat or a walking path. The walking path tends to be the quickest option.

The two bed is nice and perfect for your stay with who you are going with. We have stayed their with the DVC and we love it, in fact we may buy into the DVC there.

Getting to both Epcot and DHS is really easy. If your family is up to it, you can walk to both. We have beaten boats back from DHS to the Boardwalk. (When returning they stop at the Swan first, then Beach/Yacht club.) You can use the World Showcase entrance and what is really great, after Illuminations you will be exiting the opposite way then most people leaving Epcot. So the return to Boardwalk is a breeze, doesn't feel like your fighting to get out.

With your kids, the pool is really nice at Boardwalk and the water slid is great.

We stayed at the BW last yr. We requested a 2 bdrm, but what we ended up getting is a 1 bdrm w/ a lock off studio. At first I was all freaked out about it, but my 2 girls loved it they felt like they had their own little apt.

So if you do not want the lock off, you need to specifically ask for a "dedicated" 2 bdrm.

That is what the 2br villas are at BW as well as several other DVC properties (Beach Club and SSR immediately come to mind). Essentially a 1br and a studio are combined to make a 2br. This offers the resort the maximum flexibility in their room configurations.

Hey Richard!!! it's Matt - thanks for the graphic, and thanks for the call last night. After doing a bit more research, and reading these replies I will be pulling the trigger on the deposit today. Can't wait!

everyone else - Richard is THE MAN and is the one who got me into the 2bdrm Villa room. If you need help getting a vacation buttoned up definitely talk to Richard.

I thought it was you. Either that or one heck of a coincidence! You guys are going to have a great time. I do not envy the 26.2 you are going to have to run but you guys are going to have some sweet accommodations to recover in.

I know the yr previous to last when we stayed at SSR it was a dedicated 2bdrm, not lock off so that is why when we got the lock off at the BW I was a little freaked out.

So when we had a chance to meet with our DVC guide he just told us to ask for a dedicated 2 bdrm.

Correct. There are some dedicated 2br. It all depends on how the floor plan for the entire building works out. Personally, I like the lock off configuration especially when it is two families traveling together. It is like having 2 separate suites with a common living room.

Me too. We usually travel with my parents and those youngsters like their privacy so it works out well.

To the OP, here is the view from the 2br. Villa we stayed at last time.

As others have said, it is generally quicker to walk to DHS. It is a great area for hotels since you are so close to parks, dining, etc.

Yep, it's me!

And you better believe I will be enjoying the Boardwalk pool after the race. Either that or a tub filed with ice :-)

Can't wait!

Those villas have those big oval whirlpool tubs that you can relax in after the race.

Oh I promise you an ice bath is usually anything BUT relaxing, at least for the first 10 minutes in ;-)

but after that and a half bottle of ibuprofen things start to feel better!

We've stayed in the 2 bedrooms at the BWV a number of times, it is so flexible when you have extra guests with you, not sure if there are dedicated 2 bedrooms, we've always had the lockoffs,

Maybe I will get a dedicated when we get our Boardwalk view one at New Years eve, not sure

But enjoy it, they are comfortable and lots of fun

We've been able to put the kids to sleep in the bedrooms and enjoy adult time afterward in the living room
