My husband and I stay at BLT. We love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is not tiny at all. The recent changes they made to the floor plan have helped a lot. I wouldn't stay anywhere else.
Since I can only go around every 3 yrs (cost) I am waitng for 2013 after FL is done.. We always stay at Contemp but I think we will try the BLT to see about DVC in our future :)

My two cents. I've stayed at both OKW and BLT studios. While I enjoy the flexibility of DVC I don't think I'd stay in an OKW studio unless they spruced them up. I had a 1BR and a studio at OKW and was in the studio for the second half. It was quite disappointing for me. It's probably because I was use to the normal studio layout. OKW is the original DVC site and needs some TLC. I also wast thrilled with the amenities at OKW in reference to food service.
I thoroughly enjoyed my trip to BLT studio. It is an easy walk to the MK and it's right next door to Chef Mickey's. Walking across to the Contemporary is no worse than a walk at some of the other hotels. I vote for BLT.

My family stayed in Studios at BLT for my wedding in December, and everyone felt they were extremely cramped. The Kitchenette was wasted space for most of them, and even though they paid for Bay Lake View, they got standard view. It was not a good experience and most said they would not stay there again. In fact would have preferred to stay at All-Star or Pop Century. Now that was 3 rooms with 3 or 4 people in every room. Also, when we bought our DVC on our honeymoon we were told that due to the shape of the hotel those rooms are the smallest studios they offer.

That doesn't mean I won't stay at Bay Lake Towers one day, but that was my family's experience there.

BLT are a bit small.. OKW are bigger. We stayed in a one bedroom OKW villa for our first visit for DVC years ago... it spoiled us horribly... so much space!!!

Gotta admit I am enjoying the lack of reading comprehension on this topic: "We're worried the studios may be too small..." "Don't worry, we were in a one bedroom villa and we loved it!"

The difference between a BLT studio and an OKW studio is what, at most 50 sq? or am I off? Frankly, that extra bit of space is likely not going to impact you at all.

We stayed in a BLT studio in the summer of 2010 for one week. It was me, my DW, DS and DD. We were fine. It was a little tight towards the end of the trip, as we started accumulating swag, but frankly, all we did is sleep there. We didn't have parties there. We weren't entertaining. We slept there. Woke up. went to the parks....and returned at night to sleep. If your intention is to merely bunk at the BLT and spend your days outside of the room, BLT is simply the best choice, given your proximity to the MK.

A little story about BLT from that summer 2010 trip. I was off with my son, if I recall, riding POTC. My daughter, who was looking forward to a Bibbidi makeover all week, just finished at Bibbidi with my wife. Within seconds of stepping out of the chair, my daughter is heaving into waste paper bucket. We had reservations at CRT just afterwards. Needless to say, we couldn't make our CRT reservation and her makeover from BBB was positively ruined within 4 minutes of being finished. My daughter continued 'getting' sick the entire walkback to BLT, where she slept all afternoon.

I can not even dare to imagine how much of a nightmare the trip back to our hotel would have been, if we were staying somewhere that required either a monorail or bus trip. the proximity/walking distance from the MK totally saved us at BLT.

*A side note, for those that don't believe in the magic anymore. A cast member from management called us later that afternoon to check on our Daughter. She then offered our daughter a gratis redo on the Bibbidi Bobbidi makeover for 2 days later....and she even slipped us in at CRT for right after.

It is only 50 sq ft but that's a 15% reduction in space. I bet if you chopped each room of your house or apartment down by 15%, you'd notice. ;)

The BLT Studios are noticeably smaller than all other DVC studios. Someone accustomed to the larger rooms will sense it immediately. That said, I agree it will impact people differently. Families cram 4+ people into smaller Value rooms all the time. It's definitely an individual judgement call.

New DVC member planning our first trip with our points. Have a reservation for a Lake View Studio at BLT for 2 weeks. Have heard that the studios are rather small and in fact smaller than some of the moderate resort rooms.

Considering switching to OKW studio instead. We will be spending a fair amount of time between MK and EPCOT and would love the convenience of the location but worried that we will be cramped when we stay in the room. We plan on spending a couple of days away from the parks.

Any advice and assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome home new member from another resident of L-town!

I love OKW, but.....When a 5 year old gets tired, it's really nice to know that you are a short distance from your room. At the end of the night, when you see everyone go to the bus lines, you can stroll back to your resort. For those reasons, I'd say stick with BLT.

Your child is 3 years old, it will not be cramped, 3 or 4 adults may be cramped by=ut not two adults and a young child.

The best part of BLT is the access to MK, you will spend you time there, why waste it on the bus or monorail?
